Barry, what camera and lens do you use?

I use three photo-taking devices interchangeably. More often these days it's just a phone, because it's always with me. I still use two Canons. One is an an all-in-one point-and-shoot SX50, which I don't think they make any more. Often that's on a boat with me, or on hikes. Small and compact, and I can work all the controls with one hand; kind of essential when you're trying to sail and take pictures at the same time. The other is a 70D DSLR that only gets used on shore. It has the best image quality, but is heavy and cumbersome (and expensive) so doesn't get used as much as it once did. Certainly not when getting dunked in the drink is quite possible. It's rare I need that much horsepower, though, and the quality of phone pix is now nearly as good.

Got some video up of sailing in the marshes. Really lovely stuff, marsh sailing.

It's a little long, but hey, it's bitter cold outside with snow flurries, got the wood stove cranking. Nice to just chill a bit.

If you make it to the end, there's an explanation of why I shot so few photos and video from the boat that week. Had a mishap back in October in Saint Michaels, when I should have been paying more attention to sailing and less to working the camera. Smashed the stem nose into a channel marker. (No offense intended to folks from New Jersey.).

Barry - your videos are excellent. I've followed you as you were building your two Melonseeds and have seen many of your videos. Some of them multiple times. Thanks for posting.

Wonderful footage! I assume that the majority of the "noise" is from the Canadian Geese settling-in for the night!?
Amazing that you have good weather this (Dec.?) time of year.
And, is that a crab pot on the end of the dock? Would the Bluecrabs be active now?
Thank you for adding some tranquil moments.

Thanks Travis, you've been putting up with me a long time then. ;-)

Yes, Jackster, most of that noise is Canadian Geese, then the hunting dogs join in. I couldn't tell if the geese were on the water in the marsh or flying over. Often on clear nights here like this one they fly at night, too. This was late November, a few days before Thanksgiving. The big Blue Jimmies migrate down the bay when the water turns cold. We had a first cold snap the week before that drove them out of the marsh. Until then they were very active.

It is indeed bay-utifull. I have some land in Horn Harbor. After fishing I always work up to the inlet there to stretch and clean fish. The white sand along the bay there is great. It really is the simple things that make life worth it. Glad you enjoyed Mathews.
Do what you think is right, for you will be criticized in the end anyhow.

Horn Harbor is lovely. I stopped there for a quick look on the way back. Russ of Sjogin has ancestors there, he tells me.
