How about rig the tax system slightly more in favour of the little guy? How about socialise (gasp) health care? How about changing the inheritance tax structure, to encourage extremely wealthy people make their assets work for a slightky broader segment of society, than just their over entitled spoilt brats? FFS, it isnt rocket science. But it does require a separation of those with the wealth from those making the rules. Ban lobbyists? It requires the 21st century equivalent of separating church and state, from back in the day when the church held extremely disproportionate weakth and political influence.

This is the man choosing judges:

Think about this for a sec. Did he believe he wouldn't get called on his lie? Is it that he doesn't care? Is it a 6 YO idea thinking he can get away with it?

He's got the nuclear switch too...

Nice little follow up here, detailing Gorsuch's relationship with the Federalist Society and their shared interest in "originalism."

"Still not tired" reminds me so of a Sandra Boynton book we used to read the kids at bedtime.

Sadly, it's an old photo. I can't remember the colour's name, and we don't have the bottle anymore.

Another quick update: the Senate confirmed Judge Willett yesterday and Judge Ho today. Trump has now had more Judges confirmed than any other President in the first year of a first term. Making history, baby! Thank you Harry Reid!

The Senate confirmed President Trump’s 19th federal judge Thursday, approving James Ho for a seat on the 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals and further bolstering the judicial army that conservatives wanted to build.

Mr. Ho, confirmed on a 53-43 vote, becomes the first Asian-American on that appeals court. Democratic Sens. Claire McCaskill of Missouri, Joe Donnelly of Indiana, and Heidi Heitkamp of North Dakota joined Republicans in voting for Mr. Ho.
He’s the third federal appeals court judge the Senate confirmed this week, and the 19th judge overall. That’s well ahead of the 14 that President Obama had won by the end of his first year, but behind the pace of Presidents George W. Bush and Bill Clinton.

And damn you Mitch McConnel for holding up Obama's appointees. What a miserable excuse for a human being. Every bit as disgusting as your hero - maybe worse because disgusting as he is, I believe Trump at least has a spine.

Dave, thanks for the clarification. I should have stated that Trump has more first year confirmations to the powerful circuit courts of appeal than any President in history.

Judge Ho must have been the wrong color for some Democrats. Some in the Asian-American community will no doubt take note of this.

I hope that at least a few of them are of better quality than this fellow..

Donald Trump federal judge nominee is asked basic legal questions and can’t answer a single one..

Matthew Spencer Petersen, a commissioner on the Federal Election Commission, had a tough time when quizzed on matters of law and his legal experience by Senator John Kennedy.
He admits he has never tried a criminal or civil case under questioning from senators..

These people are not concerned with competence - just with political correctness (as defined by them - not as any sane person would define it).

Is it just me, or has everyone else also noticed Sky Blues’s trolling has become more pathetic and obvious?

It's just you. This thread is 3 weeks stale and I have no other threads drawing any content at the moment.

One of my pet peeves are the posters who have contributed nothing to a thread, but come in solely to levy an off-topic insult. That gets pretty boring too.

Well, it’s certainly not ‘off-topic.’ Everyone else who has looked at the issue of judicial vacancies and confirmations has noted certain factors which brought us to this point.

The idea that you could familiarize yourself well enough with the topic to start this thread, but remain ignorant of those issues strains credibility.

No, what we are seeing here is not the honest naievete of a political novice, it is the diligently crafted ignorance of a troll making an effort to pretend he doesn’t know the issue, while still doing his best to make an alluring fan dance with the bits he is willing to show.

The confirmations are happening, people. Members can whine, deflect and levy insult all they want. It is really all they can do. It's all they've got.

Except voting the creeps appointing & approving incompetents out of office. Just to be clear - I get appointing/approving people who agree with your politics. What I don't get is how supposedly intelligent people are good with appointing/approving people with no qualifying skills. Having judges who have a clue is important!

Incidentally, what is the methodology for removing an incompetent Federal judge for cause? Roy Moore tipped that scale twice in Alabama, but I presume that there's a different procedure for Federal appointees.

I read something the other day about how Scandinavians taught their cows to follow, rather than drove them from behind. Sheep too.

I can see the advantages for one's hygiene.
