Default Crocodile caught on Hollywood (Florida) beach

Crocodile caught on Hollywood beach (ARTICLE LINK)

    Excerpt

An-eight-foot crocodile on Hollywood beach was caught Monday afternoon, after its appearance that morning drew television news helicopters and hundreds of onlookers.

A Hollywood police officer approached people taking photos and told them to back up.

“Can you run 18 miles an hour?” the officer asked one woman.

    “No,” she said.

“He can,” the officer said. Everyone backed up.

Hope the voyage is a long one.
May there be many a summer morning when,
    with what pleasure, what joy,
you come into harbors seen for the first time...

There was a 9 footer on Vero Beach (ocean side!) about a month ago. Not all that common I guess.

I didn't realize Florida had crocodiles. I thought that they only had alligators. Honestly though, I really hadn't put that much time into the necessary research.

    I love science!

Florida is knee deep in gators which like freshwater. Not many Crocs, which are listed as threatened, and prefer saltwater.

I'm most struck by possible changes in regional speaking styles. It's been a while since I have been to Oz or even the area of my birth, and recordings from both places posted here suggest a drift away from regional accents. Is the kid's accent and hair style representative of the new Oz generation, or is he half US Appalachian hillbilly redneck? He seems to have mostly a US accent and isn't his below phrasing distinctive to a particular US demographic:

eventually find that phone and find them videos
The older guy, even without hearing his accent looks uniquely Ozzie in terms of facial expression, hair, and ear thingies. But I wonder if mass media is turning the new Oz generation to use stoner US skateboard videos as a role model or something Appalachian.

I would guess the kid had a US mother or spent some time there. But the mass media might be leveling regional accents and tastes. I have been told my accent sounds a bit Canadian, and I watched a ton of Canadian TV as a kid because our local pre-cable stations were crap in comparison. And my remote home region seems to be losing it's distinctive accent too. Just puzzled if such changes are real, because I have stopped traveling in order to fund boat-shaped holes in the ocean.

When we lived there we often saw gators swimming in the creeks along the Georgia coast. Common enough.
