Question Who can remember their childhood home phone number?

Still got ours - over a half century later.

    2221.

I recall remembering it as 'all 2's but 1'.

Then a prefix was added for the island.

We also had something one like one for a few years

1026S, then 589 when they got rid of party lines. I remember the whole family standing around the phone to talk to my Grandmother in another city. A toll call was expensive and a big deal to us. Then we got Subscriber Trunk Dialing. STD means something else these days!

That one is easy, as is my current one but the various numbers between then and now are pretty fuzzy. My only defense is I moved around a lot from 18 to 35.

Yup. 528-3259. For some reason that number was a lot easier to remember than any I've had in my adult life.

I remember mine and it was a party line. I seem to remember our ring as being 1 long and 2 short.

Phone operators answered the phones, ours was 44. Usually, I just asked for one of my grandmothers when I got on the stool to use the phone. Winter number was FU7, 7734.

Mine started as 4168. Then for some reason the Telco made us add the preceding number and it became 3-4168. By the time I was in my late teens it became 543-4168. A few years ago it became 902-543-4168. When I was a wee child, my grandmother's number was call the operator and ask for Mill Village 10. Her 'phone looked like this:

Oh, Jimmy W's post reminded me - my grandmother's ring was 2 short, 1 long.
Hope for the best, but plan for the worst.

We were 744 3387 from the time we got a phone until I moved in 2005. We had a phone before I entered elementary school.

My grandfather had his phone even sooner, and my brother inherited his house and kept the same number 744-5508 until he sold that home in 2007

Although this was around the time the "Princess" phone had appeared you had to call the "0" (Mabel) and ask to be connected, and yes Mabel would listen in.

I don't know my cell phone number, but I do remember my childhood number. A couple letters and a bunch of numbers.

I do now my home phone number, but no one answers calls from unknown numbers. Making emergency calls home worthless.
    Life is complex.

I remember mine which has been in place for over 60 years. My mom still uses it, though they replaced LAmbert with 52.

Still use it to call my dad, who is 86 years young. As of this Fall, we ported the number to a cell phone - he had knee surgery and moved across the street to stay with my sister who only has a cell phone and we were concerned that we couldn't get in touch with him there and he couldn't get in touch with others.

Was a rotary dial phone when I was a kid with pulse dialing. My father wouldn't upgrade from the original corded AT&T phone on the wall until they discontinued pulse dialing for tone and he had to upgrade. There have been a few other phones in the kitchen including a couple of wireless ones up until the shift to the cell phone. None of them as durable or long-lived as that corded AT&T unit.

Yup, we bought the house my Dad built after my Mom passed, so we still have the same number as when I was a kid.

482-3267. Camarillo, Ca. My Dad is still there. I called him tonight on my way home from work, and took some BBQ chicken to him for dinner or lunch the next couple of days. I moved out in 1981.
