I launched on Labor day weekend at Devil's Lake. From last March on, I pretty much spent every spare moment working on the boat. We have a six year old at home and are also foster parents. We got two placements in April, (1 1/2 and 2 1/2), so we were pretty busy! Anyway, I am really happy with the design and build. I have a punch list of things I want to do over the winter, but overall I can say she's "done".

This really is the perfect boat for me. There is a boat launch about 10 min from my house (where that picture was taken) on Lake Mendota. I can be out the door and on the water in 1/2 an hour. Mendota is a great lake to sail on. Rowing around Picnic Point one quiet morning was very nice too.

I'm glad I got a nice trailer (Gervasi, I will make a separate post about that). I'm looking forward to many adventures and exploring places that I previously could not go. It's funny, but I grew up in Madison and can count the times I was on the lakes with one hand. I'm going to put the boat away for the season, and look forward to the next one!

There are two kinds of boaters: those who have run aground, and those who lie about it.

Big congratulations. She looks great. I'll be looking out for her on Monona and Mendota next year.

Excellent! Another Phoenix III launched. What a great design.

This turned out great. You’re making me miss living in Madison. (Moved back to Milwaukee about 7 years ago.) Summers in Madison provide so many options for outdoor activities. I wish I’d been more into boats than just the occasional kayak ride back then — I spent most of my time on bikes on the many bike paths!

If you need some help next summer with anything, don’t hesitate to reach out.

And now you're just 4 hours away from one of the best sail and oar camp cruising destinations in the Midwest--the Turtle-Flambeau Flowage:

Which, when decorated with the addition of a Phoenix III, looks like this:

    Happy sailing!
