WHAT: Traditional Small Craft Association Meeting
WHEN: Wednesday, November 8, 7:30pm
WHERE: Maritime Gloucester, 23 Harbor Loop, Gloucester, MA

This month the TSCA welcomes back Susanne Altenburger, of famed design firm Phil Bolger and Friends, who will discuss a plywood trailerable Viking long ship. Now, I know the Bolger office has tackled some unique projects over their history, but I honestly wonder if the words "plywood," "trailerable" and "Viking long ship" have ever before been uttered in the same sentence...

The long ship in question is Design # 572. She's a 38' x 8' x 1'-11" fairly traditional long ship design, but built with glued plywood lapstrake construction, and made a little narrow to allow for road-going trailering. As Susanne says: "Just the way the Vikings would have wanted it." The ship was launched back in 2002 and Susanne will discuss how the boat came to be and show a movie taken during her launching.

Hope to see you all there!
