Elf is turned!

We finally turned the Elf over tonight. Tough to get a good picture but here's what I've got:

A boat turning in both East and West Portlands! What a great day Steven. Nice looking boat you have going there. My sailboat was done in a similar manner. Flat rockered bottom then lapstrake planks for the sides. More pics or a website??

Looks like there is one more plank to go. Why did you roll the boat before doing that?

Steve, the planking is all done. No flat bottom, just three planks per side with a very narrow keel.
Jim, the inside will be bright, the outside will be Kirby's See Red. Still lots of work left but it sure felt good to see her rightside up.

Jeff, we've made the mast. We used the birdsmouth method but so far we've only planed off the corners so it's still 16 sided. We're going with the ballanced lug rig so we still have two spars to make.
But we have the rudder gear from Classic Marine that Iain and Moray designed . Have you seen this:

A little pricey with the exchange rate and all but really quite beautiful.

Yes, I saw that rudder too, quite beautiful the way it works. I hadn't considered it as I've already started my rudder as per drawings but now you mention it...
My mast is a 2 piece only from an old boom. Old close-grained oregon. Sail not yet ordered. I made a mistake with the Mack, cloth a bit heavy really. What weight did you use?

The Cat has lots of headroom, but they charge extra if you use it. Standard fare is up to 6'6", then it goes up from there. The Cat is only running Fri - Sun from Portland, and from Bar Harbor the rest of the time.

No new work on the Eun Mara. We're hoping to launch Malolo in two weeks, so we've been REALLY busy!

Tar Devil my most famous saying is "You can never have enough clamps" I tell my wife every time we walk by clamps. My brother told her the same thing one day. We got spring clamps from a friend for our wedding. I hope to get clamps and a spokeshave for my birthday May 5th. Clamps are wonderful. I know however that I don't have enough. I have 5 C clamps of 3 to 6 inches and 20 or so little plastic (Not quite useless) spring clamps. MMMMMM CLAAAAAAMPS.

Finally got the last plank on my Elf this weekend and celebrated with the obligatory whisky, seems a bit too easy with only three planks, but I'm not complaining

Thanks for sharing. We glued the bresthooks in last night. And the daggerboard trunk is ready for some final sanding before gluing it in. Just thwarts and rang frames and the interior is done. New baby? Congrats.

Sounds like you will be sailing soon. We're heading for winter soon so I guess you must be looking forward to summer, sounds like a good time for launching.
I live in Brisbane, Australia and we have just had a disgustingly hot summer, winter here is beautiful but I doubt I will get my Elf in the water before it starts to get hot
Baby no.2 will be our second girl, we have a sixteen month old daughter already. I think two will be enough, sleepless nights here we come again

Got the keel and stems all ready to be glued in place, I'm just waiting on a helper for this glue job as it's all a bit too long and wobbly to handle on my own when it's all covered in goo.
Once the epoxy sets it will be getting turned so I can start on the gunnels and interior.
