Default Kid shot in NH McDonalds

A McDonalds employee was shot in the leg while the store was being robbed. The kid was shot AFTER the robber got the money and before he ran off.

This may not be all that unusual, but here in New Hampshire it strikes me as very rare. We just don't have a lot of that sort of thing here.

Almost sounds like an accident. That's why crimes using guns carry such hard sentences. Lucky it was only a leg and not fatal (not that leg wounds aren't serious).

    Senseless and tragic regardless.

When I lived on Queen Anne, there was a "corner store" down at the bottom of our street. It was owned and run by the Locke family. Gary Locke, the son, at the time was the King County Prosecutor, he later became our Governor, and was the ambassador to China under President Obama.
Anyway, Mr. Locke was running the store when two goons came in. One pulled a gun and demanded all the cash. After it was handed over, and as they were leaving, the goon with the pistol aimed and fired, hitting him in the stomach.
There was no need, just sheer meanness.
In the hospital, Mr . Locke refused painkillers when the doc told him that his damage would heal sooner without opiates.
    They never caught the assh##les.

If Mr Locke had also had a gun, they may have caught them........

...or he might have died pulling it.

This is the thing about guns. The NRA is right - most gun owners are good, law-abiding people. But when something like half the population has a gun, and a significant fraction of society cannot be described as "good, law-abiding" or even sane, there is bound to be some overlap between those who own guns and those we don't ever want to own a gun.

And teenagers doing nothing more than trying to earn a few bucks get shot for no reason in corner stores and McDonalds, schools and playgrounds.

How exactly does he get his gun after someone is already pointing a gun at him?
He would have to spend his day with the gun in his hand at all times.

Tell us what you would do in that situation.

My guess would be that the gun was not legally owned by the shooter.
I was puzzled that there was no description on the news this evening

Ever wonder why pawn shops don't get robbed often? Most have way more cash than burger stands or liquor stores.

A quick google of pawn shop robberies brings up an awful lot of results. Got any facts to back up that assertion?

Tom, don't let facts get in the way of opinion.

actually I was responding to the chicken little comment about never getting your gun out before the expert marksman of a robber gets you

    what fact were you seeking?

Reading comprehension seems to be a weak point among a certain political persuasion: a smash and grab is not a robbery.

And you are using actual pawn shop robberies to try to say pawn shops don't get robbed often. I just selected one result of many that came up under a search, blame google for mixing it in their results. There is no shortage of robberies at pawn shops, that you have proved for me. The fact that the result isn't always favorable for the criminal doesn't erase that they are still happening.

We often have 3 or 4 fast food joints hit a night. How's that compare?

I have no idea. You made the claim, back it up with actual facts, not anecdotes.

I just thought that nonsense was worth repeating. I suppose you mean "armed robbery", but it's hardly worth taking seriously either way.

You would do well to follow your own observation:

    Robbery
The taking of money or goods in the possession of another, from his or her person or immediate presence, by force or intimidation.
Robbery is a crime of theft and can be classified as Larceny by force or by threat of force. The elements of the crime of robbery include the use of force or intimidation and all the elements of the crime of larceny. The penalty for robbery is always more severe than for larceny.
