If so that bodes well for the durability of the construction !

Mine is in the same position as Leo’s, being that it is sitting on the lead keel, so nowhere to lower it too.

leo, have you calculated how much of the original timber in the hull you will be able to preserve into the building of the refurbished vessel?

I just found this video series a couple days ago. Really good work. Nice seeing a classic being restored.

It looks like some considerable renewal will have to take place and I suspect that a renaming ceremony might be appropriate...how about 'Spirit of Tally Ho' ! Joking aside, some WW2 Spitfires have been raised from the dead on the strength of only a makers name plate! No matter what percentage of wood replacement, it will not detract from the marvellous effort and enthusiasm being put into this remarkable restoration. I remain totally impressed by this man called Leo.

Hi Leo, Congratulations with 12.000 subscribers for your YouTube channel. As I wrote on another thread on this forum the films you make are well worth watching and to me much more interesting than for instance Discovery Channel. 12 K subscribers and 60 K views could give you a monthly income. Maybe it is a good idea to make one video to outline the plans you have for the boat. I know you have to take a lot of decisions regarding what materials to use and so on. What are the parts you can re-use? What are the parts you have to build again? Will you be using modern adhesives? Will you stick to the way the vessel was built originally or do you take the liberty to use more modern constructions, like laminating frames? Anyway, whatever the plans are keep up the good work!

By the way, I saw Tally Ho when I was working on a job in Brookings. She is a very, very well built boat. Those Brits can do a good job. I did not go aboard but from what I could see, she is in remarkable shape. She had work done by local marine carpenters in the small town. Their work, not surprisingly, was not as high quality as the original. But it was not awful. My guess is that the hull will be not have to be rebuilt. (I have restored boats that came to be 85% new wood.)
It's going to be a huge job...I hope Leo gets additional help and is showered with dollars. The boat deserves saving.

I believe the planking and keel can be saved.
Wrought iron floors...maybe. Iron hangers yes.
Clamp and shelf, if he laminates frames.
    Frames and deck,na uh.

Just came across your videos on Youtube, did a search here and found your thread. You're a brave man Charlie Brown.

Yes. I just watched the delivery video too. And also now questioning most of my life choices. Exactly why am I staring at a computer screen right now instead of crewing on a big schooner? I could've done. I crewed very briefly on a big (power) yacht right out of high school but ended up going to college instead. Two roads diverged and all that.

Thanks for all your support and encouragement, all! Much appreciated..

Here is my latest video, as I take a few days away from Tally Ho to deliver the three-masted Schooner Adix... Its a bit of a diversion, I'm afraid, but gives an interesting insight into what it's like to sail a unique boat, and it's all in the name of gathering funds to restore Tally Ho.

    Thanks for watching!

    Hi Leo,

Saw Tally Ho when working on a job in Brookings several years ago. It is a intimidating job for me...I restored vintage speedboats...you can up any part of which you can pick up with one hand. Hope to get over to see your project sometime! Best of luck!!

I've been following along on YouTube, after finding the link posted by Salt & Tar, then the link to Acorn to Arabella.
Came here looking for the build thread for Arabella and dropped straight on to this one, now bookmarked.
