Like several others I only walk from my bedroom to another part of the house. I often take the longer route that stops at the bathroom.
    Life is complex.

    There's a reason for that:

2 work shops, one is about 100 feet away and the other is about 3 miles, all on a simple road which about half is our (shared) driveway...

I drive 40 miles, from Frankfort to Traverse City. It takes 45 minutes most days...but winter might complicate things a bit.

I work part time, 4 days a week, but starting next week I'll be down to three days, which is what I prefer.

A Longer drive would make me quit this job.

I start drawing Social Security and a small govt. pension in October, so I hereby change my work status to (almost) RETIRED!

For the first 18 years of my career, the commute was about 10 miles, maybe 20 minutes or so....

...then, after I became an independent contractor, and for the next 25 years, the commute varied. If I had a contract that could be performed in my own office (in an industrial park, about 6 miles from home), the commute was 10-15 minutes. I also did contracts that required long commutes, in heavy traffic... at least an hour or more... the last time I had to commute, it was about 45 minutes over back roads.

While I clearly preferred working in my own office, the contracts requiring commuting weren't all that bad... while I was working for ClearView Audio, I started listening to audiobooks, which made the commute much more pleasant.. and read 50 books per year, or more, that way.

I work from home so on some days it is zero.

On other days, I travel and its hundreds or thousands of miles.

    distance: 7 miles

Commute Time (AM): depends on whether or not I stop for coffee at Cafe Bambino). 25 minutes if I don't; 45 if I do (maybe more, depending on the quality of the craic that morning).
Commute Time (PM): probably 30-40 minutes. Seattle has terrible traffic, especially during PM rush hour.

Currently twelve miles and about fifteen minutes each way.

Previous versions have run from 15 feet - bed to desk - 45 feet if I needed a coffee to - seventy five miles and two hours thirty each way.

    Whatever it takes.

A question was posed to me some years ago about work-from-home business etiquette:

If you work at home, what do you do for 'casual Friday'? Work naked?

Not if there are videoconference meetings.

    36 year..........16 miles/30 minutes.
Got transferred in 2014 and had to move to where we now live.
    Now....3 miles/5 minutes.

92.5 miles, 1 hour 25 minutes home to office. I leave the house at 5, so no traffic.

Some weeks 5 days a week. Other weeks down on Monday and back on Friday, with an apartment that allows me a 1000 foot walk.

Plus 90-120,000 miles of air travel a year.

Best job of my life. Totally worth it.

We video chat all the time and I do this all the time, depending upon who I am meeting with. There is even a feature ( we use Google Hangouts) where you can put up your avatar and so only join the video conference by audio. It's perfect for when I need to join the conversation, but also need to do something else.

Did I mention I have the Hangouts app on my phone so I can join video calls from anywhere?

I have a 13~ minute bike ride from my house to my office. It's a 2 mile downhill roll here, and a bit of a workout on the way home.

16Km (10 miles, near enough). By car it's anything between 20 and 70 minutes. I only use the car when I can leave by 6AM and keep it to 20-25 minutes.

Usually I cycle, with a ferry ride across the wet bit in the middle, which takes 50 minutes - about the best I can hope for in the peak-time if I drive. If the Skypath ever get opened (cycle/walk-way over the currently motorway-only harbour bridge) then I'll ride the full 16 Km and probably take at least 5 minutes off the time. If the weather is truly foul I'll get the bus, with at least a 1 Km walk at either end - that takes about 70 minutes.

In the summer, at least once a week I try to cycle round the harbour, which is a 37.5 Km trip taking between 1H 35m and 1H 45m depending on wind speed and direction.

I'd hate to have a job that I couldn't ride to. I'd be prepared to go a little further, but it would have to be under the hour to be up for any consideration.

It varies most every day I tend to pass on work more than 45 miles away unless there really profitable or a favor this week I was over in brownfield 25 miles 35 minutes, next week is parsonsfield 10 miles perhaps 20 minutes (country roads) in the winter when most of my work is service 200 mile days are pretty common.
