Well Rob, the Kamaka family makes good sounding ukes but this one now soundes better than it originally did due to the violin polish that I used on it. "White sandy beaches" is one of my favorirte songs.
I use those binocular glasses for ultra fine work. They are the same as surgeons and dentists use and are set for my working focal length of seventeen inches from eye to the work. They enlarge 4 to one and are made by Surgitel. They also have a fiber optic light incoroporated as an added aid.

This is a very interesting thread, very impressive projects. I'll throw some of mine into the mix. Beyond the house projects I enjoyed building some toys for my kids, nephews and nieces for a spell. Even one for my Dad who ordered a Peterbilt for his birthday some years ago. I cut the large wheels for the small tractors and bought the others for the fronts and the all the wheels on the trucks everything else was made from Poplar planks. I built a couple toy boxes as well for both my kids, backwards engineered the two of them from pictures I found. Both are still holding up well and still residing in their bedrooms.

Last one, I built this desk in place of an old doorway we closed off, was useless space otherwise. Would have changed a few things now that I've had a few years to look at it but all in all I'm pretty happy with how it turned out.Attached FilesComment

This is a dog hole vise inspired by the Veritas wonder dogs for my daughter's luthier workbench that we made. So far she does mostly bow repair, restored one crushed violin and upgraded a rather odd old Hardanger fiddle.
Made from 1/2" allthread, a 1/2"bolt, scrap cherry from the bench and some hickory from a stair tread. There is a steel nut potted in the cherry post.
