Perhaps to the beholder, however it's actually following a traditional paint scheme for Grand Banks Nova Scotian dories.

Not so bad looking, IMO, though for the months of July and August here, those dark green seats may get hot midday.

Might be a Reading Railroad fan, the Reading in it's final years used this color scheme in their Bee Line Service diesel locomotives. Norfolk Southern did a great rendition of a modern day Reading diesel, had that road survived, in it's Heritage Units program.......

Simpler is better, except when complicated looks really cool.

So, it'd be OK if white & crimson? It's on a lake, so no tide...

I looks a bit harsh on the trailer, but I think it would look ok out on the water.

I like it. In the remote areas of the world, like Newfoundland, etc., a little color goes a long way to brighten the day.

Nice house, nice trailer. The boat is a bit rough, but dories were built for function, not beauty. As for the color? Why not.
I was born on a wooden boat that I built myself.

Someone should put together a list of historic paint colors that were typically available before the creation of modern organic and inorganic pigments and tinting machines you can now find in almost any paint store.

Great fun, no idea the post would cause all this. I agree with all sides.

I bet Kirby Paints would have such a (proprietary) list. https://kirbypaint.com/

There is one near the bottom of the page at http://www.wcha.org/catalogs/old-town/records/codes.txt which lists the 172 different colors that went on various Old Town canoes and boats from 1906 to 1975. These were recorded while building a database from a subset of the first 200,000 build records in the Old Town Canoe Company archives. Only a few of these can be identified with actual PMS colors. The designs shown at http://www.wcha.org/catalogs/old-tow.../thumbnal.html from the catalogs can give some indication of the colors used.

A white boot stripe with sheer on the top, plus a red bottom would do wonders to help that ugly duckling! A white chafing strip guard rail would help as well plus a Grand Banks beige interior with varnished thwarts. The owner is color blind! Look at the "Ducks" logo. It is all there!

Other than the interior he wasn't far off: http://www.doryshop.com/dories/ OTH I have no clue about the cleats on top of the rail, and he ( and most other) dory builders today don't run the painter through the sheer strake with an eye splice.
