Default Ragtop I'd like to own.

Not fast, or a corner carver. It's just so cool though.

One of the things l like about it I see that it somehow manages to look retro and futuristic at the same time. Mind you I would not want it as a daily driver, but as a occasional special occasion and "date" car oh yes.

Lots of legroom in the back seat, eh?

Not many 4 seat ragtops are really 4 seaters. The back seat is really a package shelf.

I really dig the DS, but I dunno about having it as a ragtop.

Bugatti began in the Alsace region in Mosheim, France.

In 1912 it was the first cars to have 100hp out of a 5 liter motor and capable of 160kph!

The type 35 is one of the most sought after french cars.

The type 55 set the standards for a sports car for years to come.

I do love the Type 57G from the Bugatti factory - a true sports car (not a race car) - designed to win with new rules at Le Mans - rigged to beat the dominating germans and italians race cars. By 1940 the germans invaded and sold the Bugatti factory and stripped it of its assets & mechanics/workers.

There are only three: a 1962 T-Bird roadster, a Series 1 Jag XKE, and a Jag XK120 with Brooklands screens.

PS: Although I did love the look of my 1962 MGA Mk. II.

the 504 convertible is pretty sexy. Then again Pina farina coachworks can make any car look that way.

My aunty May, really a family friend of my mother and grandmother and PA to a local industrialist, had a 1937 Delage D8.
At the time we had no car and she lived with us and drove us around in it.

I can't speak for that car, but I remember convertibles with perfectly useful back seats. Then they stopped making convertibles. Then they started again, and back seats were pretty useless.
May be some rough water ahead. We're getting new captain.

I had a shot at one, a pretty nice one and passed. It was free but too much...

Little old lady down the street from us at our first house had one. We asked a few times after it, but to no avail. She passed, and it disappeared. Wifey has longed for one since.
I would rather she found a beetle. SO much less work. And gas.

I've got bucketloads of ragtop photos. Some will get to the petrolhead tour thread when I get around to uploading them.

Not sure I'd want too many of the American ragtops I saw though....

"Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry and narrow-mindedness, and many of our people need it sorely on these accounts. Broad, wholesome and charitable views of men and things cannot be acquired by vegetating in one little corner of the earth all one's lifetime" Mark Twain... so... I'd rather look back at my life and say "I can't believe I did that" instead of being there saying "I wish I'd done that"

I omitted my MGTC, I hated putting the top up. It didn't leak too much but it was dank, and all the other stuff about old MG's were exaggerated. Noise, smell, dust, terrible vision…………………..And I did own a 1928 Capitol Chev. tourer with wooden wheels for a while, but that was civilised by comparison.

Um, slow, rod and cotter pin brakes, vacuum petrol pump, wood wheels need maintenance in a dry climate. I had two sets as one was always being soaked in linseed. Canopy subject to wind damage needed regular repair. But other cars kept well away, I was hit when parked by a more modern car. It was a write off, mine cost 5 pound at a blacksmith and some touch up paint.

I was working for a production in Lisbon a few years ago and we had soft-top DS for some shots......correct me maybe, but they were never made at the factory, but turned out in the sixties by a coachbuilder in Chelsea. cut in half and shortened about 30cm I recall, ...
