    Default Cat SPIKE

Our recent addition, 'Spike' was dropped off at the vet this morning to be spayed.

Pick up will be late this afternoon.

Anyone had a cat spayed recently, if so can you tell me what to expect re post operation?

PS Photophucket prevents me from posting a pic.

Hope Spike soon settles down to his old self- he should do.

Reminds me of the old definition of a ball-race- a cat running away from the vet.
    Sorry, Rummy.

Our pup was high as a kite when she got "fixed". It was hilarious, actually.

The new cat? He just slept, which is pretty much all he does, anyway. Hehe.

    Peace,

    Sorry, Rummy.
HER-self. Which is why I am a bit more concerned.

I had two 6 month old pups (weighed 45lbs each) castrated and there was little problem other than one licking his would more than the other one did.

    Oops!
    Senior moment.
I guess Spike didn't sound very feminine.

Just got the pup back Tuesday afternoon. Cone for 5 days, no rigorous playing for 8 to 10 days. No restrictions on diet. When we had our cats spayed they didn't even seem to notice except for sleeping the first day.

The pup is a girl. So is Old Cat. The cats generally do better with the incision than dogs. Dogs are really dumb, you know?
I think your kitten will be fine. No good playing the tough guy ever again, though. Not that I'll give you guff. I'm manly enough to cry I over a kitten.

I hope she's well. Update, eh? Don't keep us in stitches. Ahem.

    Peace,
    Robert

SPIKE is a female? Aren't you worried she'll be teased by all the other cats in cat school?

Back to the spaying. We've had four female cats spayed and it was no big deal (for us, anyway). Keep her in a separate room to prevent her from running around. Try to prevent her from jumping up on things for a few days. All will be well once the stitches have healed.

    Yes SPIKE is female.

Spike 'plays' with one of the (now 50lb) puppies, but not with the other. When the other joins in there seems to become a pack and the game changes. Spike senses this and darts off.
Spike will even let 'Frankie' playfully put his mouth over her head or midsection. She often 'attacks' him, jumping all over him, legs, head wherever.
I am yet to see Spike's claws being drawn and used in anger. I suspect that there will come a time . . .

PS A friend of mine has beautiful girlfriend nicknamed 'spike' and no I don't know how she got that name.

Spike that's an unusual name for a female cat. I had a cat named "Stains".

I'd always get the strangest looks from passers-by whenever I'd stand on the front steps and call him to come.

I wanted to call our pups 'Jesus' and 'Christ', but was outvoted.

Spike came with the name 'Stripe' due to some very slight bands of variation in color on her mid section. These bands are growing out now and becoming very hard to see.

Did not fancy 'Stripe' so closest (family vote) 'Spike' was it was.

What is the name of your cat (for whom you are merely the custodian)?

My aunt used to have a female cat named Bruce. After Lenny, of course.

Our cat, Frankie, was given that name by my wife. She saw the kitten's blue eyes and thought of Old Blue Eyes, Frank Sinatra. I can't stand Frank Sinatra, but am very fond of this cat.

Glad to see the correction as to gender.

We had a local vet to whom a neighbor brought a cat in to be fixed. The vet got it open and in before realizing, no ovaries. Male cat. So he buttoned up the first cut, nipped the wee buds, and charged our neighbor for both operations. Her revenge was to pay without dispute and then have the invoice published in our local paper.
