Default Thanks for the smoke, BC.

Local paper claims our Tacoma air quality is currently worse than Beijing.
We're bathed in a smoky haze from the range fires in BC.

    Good luck up there, Canucks.

My daughter just returned to Vancouver after a week's visit home. She sent us 'before' and 'after' pictures of the view east from Kitsilano Beach, and the haze in the 'after' pictures is terrible. Environment Canada air quality measurements taken yesterday are off the charts.
Hope for the best, but plan for the worst.

Not sure if you noticed the haze in the "adventure ride" thread. The first couple pics show hazy foothills. We've had an Air Force C-130 operating out of the Air Attack base in addition to THEIR C-130, and some jet they got. The foam stuff looks all weird and pink and odd after it's all said and done.

Oh, the bucket choppers are flying, too.

    Peace,
    Robert

Sorry, it wasn't an intentional gift.

Took the mutts out for a walk yesterday. Had to cut it short for the sake of Bubba the bulldog. He has respiratory problems anyway due to his bashed in gob. But with the smoke it was just too much.

A news helicopter couldn't tell which community it was over due to the smoke.

Yeah... they even smudged us down here in Portland. It'll blow over, but my friend with COPD is not loving it. Good luck, guys, getting it under control. Hope everyone stays safe.

Looking forward to the wind coming in from the south in the next day or two and blow it back up where it belongs.

Was just outside, sun shining but can't see it, about 88 f, haven't seen Mt. Baker for days which is usually right in my face.

Pollution here is now worst than that of Beijing, China.

BC bud was a dominant export product for decades. Now they're giving Washington the stuff for free, trying to undercut the newly legal producers there.

This is just a stunt, jockeying for market share.

Same principle as dumping softwood lumber.

Wind change this morning, now out of the SW. Still smokey but maybe this will help clear it up. I can now sort of see Bainbridge Island, four nm away. I hope the change will bring more moist air to BC.

Two Air Force C130s yesterday. They're liveries are neat. Great with blaze orange markings. The tailnumbers look very vibrant. Number 1 was the only clear look I got.

    Peace,

Seen from my current jobsite a few days ago. There are mountains and an ocean in this picture, I swear.

I have never seen it this smokey. I can smell it too on occasion. From my office elevator lobby (38th floor), you can see the end of Whidbey Island on a clear day. Now can't see Queen Anne hill.

Finally getting a little brighter here by the hour. Hope you are getting this change in BC as well. Going to a high school class reunion today. Hope I can see the name tags.

The barometer dropped last night quite a bit and has come up slightly. I am hoping for a change in the weather.

Ron, which high school? I went to Roosevelt as did my mother, my brothers, and my daughters

Auburn, '62. 55 year reunion. We've had reunions every five years. We were a very close class of about 200 but it seems to be getting smaller for some reason.

I see Oregon is making plans to deal with possible human caused fires during the eclipse. Thousands of camping tourists streaming into dry Eastern Oregon during peak fire season. I wish them luck.

Saw a story on the news last night that told of how badly disrupted the BC lumber industry has been due to the forest fires. Softwood lumber prices are about to go up, probably by a significant amount. Better buy your 2x4's this week...
Hope for the best, but plan for the worst.
