Wheels? Where we're going, we don't NEED wheels...

I'm impressed that the fan can develop enough thrust to make takeoff speed. Those RIBs aren't light or slippery.

I've always wondered just how safe those things are. Ultralights are are risky to begin with, but hanging a RIB off of one, with all of that surface area, seems like asking for it. . .

The wing provides lift as it begins to get up to speed. Helps it get up on a plane.

Actually, the OP looks more like James Bond getting ready to slide along a wire into an inaccessable place.

To make the experience complete, since it'll carry two people, take a parachuting diver up and dump him off at about fifty feet with a long line so he can water ski up to the villa.

Had the unfortunate experience of fixing two different small planes (one Cessna 185 and one DeHavilland Beaver) both running amphib floats that landed wheels up on the runway.

Actually very little damage to fix, as it's not that bad on the floats. Do it the other way, wheels down on the water, and someone can easily die.

Things can go sideways even when you land the floats on the water. The script for "Motherlode" was re-written after this to accomodate the accident footage. The pilot was OK.

That looks like the ideal craft for those pictures of boats about to sail/steam off a waterfall

To be fair, it looks like it's from a Roger Moore James Bond film.

my favourite komet trivia, the pilots were told to avoid eating foods which caused intestinal gas to avouid crippling pain during high speed climbs

Instant colic from reduced air pressure. Same reason you don't eat gassy chow before SCUBA diving.....could lead to epic flatulence upon return to the boat. DAMHIKT.

Actually, a couple of weeks ago I rolled our new RIB into the garage and parked it next to the ultralight of one of the kids and thought hmmmmm. It could be possible to fit some small folded wings up one of the quarter berths, which are open to the transom. The engine and prop could probably also fit in the quarter berth. You then have one hell of a tender for cruising.
