Default Craigslist Find NYC: 30' Ketch

I used to see this boat from the Throgs Neck Bridge, it's handsome. The price is a song, a sharp drop. I've paid more than this for small boats. Hopefully someone will buy and sail it.

    I wasn't expecting the fin-keel underbody!

A steal. Glassed plywood hull (assuming from time of build), probably sound as a dollar

Any idea where a likely marina would be (ie, in sight of the Throg's Neck Bridge)?

I'm constantly trying to figure out the shortest drive to good sailing from me, since I've found the lakes around here almost totally pointless to even try to sail on

Honestly, if you want good sailing from Lenox, I think Mystic is probably the easiest drive.

Yeah those Berkshire breezes are kooky. Back when the boy attended Camp Becket we won the father-son regatta one year by remaining on port tack throughout the entire "windward-leeward" course.

When I saw the boat, it was moored just east of the bridge. There were a couple of marinas in Throgs Neck, but I don't remember if sailboats fit under that part of the span. City Island is nearby with plenty of marinas.

I suspect a red herring in this deal or, perhaps, a misprint!

Ha!! Finally, someone who understands! I just took my Mirror dinghy out a few days ago, "light and variable" forecast--OK. Got it. How about 4-to-22, from the South North via WestNorthEast... actually held up my air speed gauge and got 18.6 in one of the milder gusts that I could sail with one hand . .. giving up. (I'm in Great Barrington, actually)

I've thought about Mystic, I love the look of that river when I attend the WB Show. I've seen a bunch of nice looking wooden listings from Mystic over the years. A cool Ralph STanley (small) schooner was there at the show this year, not a display (for sale, though)

sorry, back to the main thread after a minor drift...

I suspect he's been trying to sell if for a long time--pretty sure I saw this boat last year on C-list, pictures not as good

The boat was listed earlier this season for $8000. I believe he really needs to sell. Any wooden boat can be hard to sell.

Owning any 30' boat in view of New York City is a costly endeavor. Way more than the asking price per annum. The owner is probably desperate to shake off the overhead and not so worried about any negative ROI.

Especially tough place to sell a slightly funky wooden boat.

bronze portlights?, lead keel, rigging?, sails? maybe a good donor boat at that price.
A ship is safe in the harbor, but that's not what ships are for.
