A Miata with a Lotus Elan fiberglass body. 1/5 the cost. 1/2 the speed. 2/3 the fun. 3/4 the looks.

There is nothing you can do with an ape/human hybrid. They'll rip your arm off.

3/4 the looks? Try about 0.000000000000000000001% the looks.

Nope, I'm working to get everyone healthcare. Your dream is just a dream. My x-wife had a Miata. It was fun to drive so there may still be a little hope.

Are you referring to the ex-wife or the Miata and by extention... Would they be improved via plastic reconstruction and new seat redo?

    Or you could go "Italia"

I had not realized how many body kits there are for the Miata though I do believe I'll leave my '92 alone

I think the OP's notion of a Miata is spot on. Or, the Fiata.

If you're into vintage... a Karman Ghia, Fiat 124, some of the Alfa's, a Studbaker Avanti, '74 MGB, older Z3, older Boxter, Honda S2000, Subaru WRX, Nissan 300ZX, etc. But (excepting the Subara) none of these will provide the trouble-free, low cost of ownership, reliable, ride with modern amenities that the Miata/Fiata would. Of course some of them might make up for that with 'cashet'...

Back in the early 90's I worked for a Mazda dealer. There was a mechanic nicknamed "Big Mike". He was 6' 6" and about 325 lbs. when he had to pull a Miata into the shop he had to put the top down to fit in and then it looked like a Shriner's car.

I had a Bugeye Sprite for a while. Had to drive it with the top down, as I saw best over the top of the windshield.

At 6'-0" getting in and out of the Miata is a bit of a yoga maneuver, but it helps keep me limber and there is decent legroom once I'm in the car. My '68 Bronco also makes me hunch down to see under the top of the windshield frame at stoplights.

The problem with the Miata is that it's a car you buy your teenage daughter for her 16th birthday.

    1 Series convertible. A mate of mine tried it... he's 6' 8"

We didn't go too well trying out the X6 either. The salesman reckoned we'd each have headroom in the rear seats. Nope.

I had similar problems with the Dragonfly.... which goes a LOT faster than the Evora... and pulls about four times the Gs - but that budget needs a bit of loosening if you want a ride.

I'd rather look back at my life and say "I can't believe I did that" instead of being there saying "I wish I'd done that"

I honestly don't know much about them. Probably. Have only seen maybe one in the flesh. Don't know anyone who's owned one.

    So are these.

Any Miata is the most fun for the least money if you can fit in it.

It might blow the current budget, but at the time it came out, the Pantera was a budget supercar.

Even now, this is what $50,000 will get you.

The Jay's Garage episode on the Pantera is worth a watch if you're not familiar.

I really wish that they would have kept going with the Fiero. The GT was a good looking car.
