    Default Colorado cycling

Just got back from a week of bicycling with some buddies in Colorado- an awesome break from the Texas heat. The main event was the Bob Cook Memorial Mount Evans Hill Climb. It was a doozy... Started in Idaho Springs and finished on the summit of Mt Evans at over 14,000 feet. 28 miles and 6500 vertical feet of glorious suffering.

Here are a few pics from the week.

Buena Vista to Cottonwood Pass. A nice 22 mile climb. Not much traffic as the road was closed at the summit.

Looks wonderful - though I have to admit to a bit of 'chest pain' when I read that descriptor of that first climb!

    That's enough exercise for today...

    Fantastic.

I wonder if I could manage such rides. Although I'm riding more and sometimes further than I ever have, this is despite (or in spite) of a heart condition that makes me wary of pushing too hard.

How long does 28 miles and 6500 feet take you, out of interest?

Took me 3:17. Was hoping to break 3 hrs, but got cold and couldn't get my heart rate up to push harder. Oh well. At least it wasn't snowing...
