Default Giant Sequoia Tree in Cental Virginia.

A giant sequoia tree suddenly sprouted up a mile from my house this week. It is interesting how it towers over the Oak around it.

the picture below is not of the actual tree in my neighborhood but looks amazing similar.

I'm sure it will look quite spectacular this winter after all the trees in the forest around if have dropped their leaves.

That palm tree one is not bad compared to the sequoia.

They might as well hang a prop off them and generate some electricity for their pains, jeesh.

Out here in the drought-stricken West, they gave us a water tank.

I might have been suspicious of it, given that its aspect ratio was wrong for a water tank. However, having watched them build it, suspicion had nothing to do with it. #FAKE Water tank.

Sequoias are noted for being easy to grow but hard to germinate. Around the Pacific NW the seeds will not survive a winter but if a seedling is planted it will thrive and grow like a weed. I used to work with a landscape architect on my projects who would sneak a sequoia seedling into all of our projects as his "signature". The client wouldn't notice it until a few years later. I love driving by those old projects now and seeing those magnificent giant trees on the grounds.
