And by the way...a clever person could stick an ad on the forum page...cover the hosting and tech work and solve the problem...

    Exactly.

That's why I am impressed by the guy that made fixphotobucket.com. He has the tech skill and was quick to respond. He deserves a bit of residual income from what he's set up. I hope he receives it.

I went incognito mode in Chrome. ****+cntrl +n
    Not logged into Google
After that I could still see my fishing pier myrtle beach photo, but could not see my bimini top photos.
But when I logged into my Google account, all those pictures became visible.
the pier was non album-non share, theo bimini was in a shared folder, so going to test some more multiple pictures of non album pictures

Ok I see all pictures in firefox, and all pictures in Chrome incognito mode.

Thanks and the 4 zoo pics?

    Are you logged into google?
Are you using Chrome? If so, can you hold cntrl+shift+n to go incognito mode, and retry to see the pictures?

    For firefox it is
    (CTRL + SHIFT + P)

I tested incognito mode for Chrome and firefox and see all the pics.

    Hi, thanks very much.

On all google photo links, I added ?.jpg to the end of the copied address link from the google photos page.
I did not use the preview pictures, I clicked on the pictures so the google photos displays one picture.

I have plenty of linked pics & they all downloaded fine.
thanks... turns out, my work firewall is blocking it... I flashed up a computer at home and it was doable... not that I would EVER read or even be on the forum during working hours...

Select a photo on FB, right mouse , "copy Image" then paste here. That's with Chrome.

Sorry to be so long answering .

I don't see these photos. And I never saw your zoo photos. I saw the ones showing the making of the metal thing. I use Safari.

As far as I'm concerned, a photo hosting site that does not function on all of the commonly used browsers is rubbish.

Well, yes, it is flakey. Some people see some, some none, some all. But must be a reason why.
The metal adapter, only difference, all those photos are in a shared google photos album.

The photos should be hosted on the forum server. All other solutions are mickey mouse work-arounds.

when will someone from Wooden Boat speak to this mess!!?

Another alternative is 'postimage.org' which I am now using in a building/repairs thread.
It is a free service (for now anyway!), fairly easy to use and is at least worth a try.

Yes a good service they offer.
I recommend signing up with them versus using the non login post method, to keep track of your albums.
If they could have an android client to automatically upload, that would be nice. I auto upload to Google Photos and Amazon photos from the phone.

Someday maybe if they become very popular, they may try to sell themselves, and who knows what will happen to free picture hosting. Photobucket bleeds red ink, they are hurting.

If you want your own or want my help, we need a domain name (15/yr), a server account (100/yr) and one of the free photo hosting programs which is easy to install.

Then it needs maintenance and upgrades. But it won't go away unless the bill isn't paid, and it backs itself up every day.

Postimage does have an app. It works in linux with wine too, I just tried it.
It is not just screen captures.
I can multi-select multiple images or whole directories. It then uploads them into a postimage gallery with the name of the folder.
In the settings, you go to the Account tab, then click my api, it takes you to your web account, copy paste it in and it works great.
I did this on my home PC, so I suppose not for android.

    https://postimages.org/app

If the photos are on your PC, fairly easy to do this. But not fully automatic like google photos or amazon photos.

An easy way to get all your photos from google photos onto your PC is to use Google takeout.

    https://takeout.google.com/settings/takeout#

You can select all or some albums etc... but this could get rather bulky. If you were doing this a lot.
But you could organize google photos into albums, then download individual albums to the PC, which would be better.

I looked at Tapatalk, but dont like typing in messages on my tiny android phone.

Since I use my phone for all pictures, but prefer my PC for forums, then whatever solution, has to involve the phone uploading somewhere, then downloading, then uploading or something like that..

Well you see them if you click them

Sent from my SCH-I545 using Tapatalk

    They did finally appear.

But I have other issues with Tapatalk. I tried uploading from my Gallery ( where pictures are stored from camera) and got errors saying unsupported file. I have a Galaxy S4 Verizon phone! WTH...
I did manage by fluke? to get those 2 google pictures to upload, but ever since every Google photo picture I try, Tapatalk errors and says 'cannot open image'
It starts downloading, but the progress bar just zips right to the end, then I get that error. Maybe a poor connection, will try in a better location.

Incognito mode shouldn't change the visibility of hosted images, and I just see a minus icon even if I click on them.

Remember testing from your computer to look at image on your Google account is not a test for other people -- and tends to display cached images as well. Get someone else to view them on another computer or mobile device.

I thought Facebook was known for changing image URLs from time to time without warning (ie. they'd only be reliable within Facebook's site) Has that changed? (I don't use Facebook)

eta: Pete, I can see the trailer photo fine at the moment.
