Have a nice sail. Wouldn't be out in a boat off Adelaide today.

Got back in to Tweed a couple of minutes after 12 noon, just the predicted northerly kicked in...bastard. I started off from Southport motor sailing with SW blowing around 5 knots. GPS giving me a sog of around 3.5 knots. I was catching lift so I shutdown the outboard and we had a sog (speed over ground) of 2.4 knots. I sailed for around an hour and even though it was most pleasurable I didn't seem to be going South very fast...still I was sailing to windward. The wind just didn't have enough force to it to get Redwing going, so back to the outboard. Sadly the wind just didn't improve and by the time I was off Point Danger it was a glassy swell. The Northerly helped me up the river anyway.
My take is that if you poke someone with a sharp stick they'll get annoyed, if you smile and shake their hand they will be your friends.

Flat, it was an easy crossing. It was a flood tide as well. Looks like I have lost all the Tipplers photos I took. The micro sad card in my phone seems to have cacked itself.

It is nice to be back. I plan on getting further up into Moreton next time. Now I have to work out how to post some photos here. What did people decide on that front?

This was my birthday cake David's wife Rosemary made for me. Chocolate mud cake with strawberries.

Damn fine cake! It was good to see Tweed turned on the right bar conditions for you too. Well planned, well done.

Not a patch on what you are doing Bruce but Redwing covered a total of 66 nautical miles in her travels.
On the trip back down we had a course of around 150 M and a SW breeze and making around 2.5 knots. A stronger wind and she would have pointed higher. If I'd had the breeze I had on Saturday I would have been romping along.
Anyway that was Redwings first real cruise.

Don't talk it down. Tweed and Seaway bars are no small deals, and the prep, planning and execution of any trip that includes them is brag worthy. Very well done, I reckon.

I've started writing up the story...1500 words so far so I think it's going to be at least a two part article.
    I'm calling it Washington's Axe.

I feel like a sailor now and not someone who sits on the dock talking about great plans of going here or there. I've managed the crisis and I've had to deal with the viscous mud on the anchor and chain. I've got a boat that sails well and is easy to manage...I'm feeling pleased with myself.
A working depth sounder would be nice though.
