I bought an exotic car. Yeah, a real outlier. I'm over the moon.

This is the actual car, although I can't collect it for three weeks and haven't seen it in the metal myself. I'm calling for an EBS in Detroit to celebrate. Well, Paul is actually. The car is being held for me at Detroit's Lotus and Morgan dealership.

NB: It was very close to being a Corvette, but I walked on the wild side instead.

T'is, if I must say so myself. A pure thing. Some might say "the world's greatest kit car." I say, WOW! I'm over the moon.

In an odd way, as close to an air cooled Porsche as you can buy new in respect to intent and spirit.

I made them throw one in with the deal! I thought you'd approve. Once I drove it, I couldn't get it out of my head. It's very buttoned down in the most delicious way.

And of course, I can now start a thread about owning a Hethel built English car from new and review the experience as it unfolds. It was so hard to pull the trigger on this, but impossible not to in the end.

    2017 Lotus Evora 400?

    http://www.motortrend.com/cars/lotus...t-test-review/

A 25-minute lapping session of Gingerman Raceway revealed fear-free dynamic handling with strong turn-in bite, gentle and controllable corner-entry rotation, and sure-footed corner exits.

Starting at $93,785, the Evora 400 roughly competes on price and performance with an optioned Cayman GT4 or GTS. Our test car’s build quality even approaches Porsche’s. Where Lotus wins is on exclusivity—with only 400 Evora 400s bound for North America, it may eclipse mid-engine Brit rival McLaren on that score.
Green looks better than the orange one in the link. I think you done good.

Thanks Jim! As I said, it wasn't easy to pick from the lineup. It took a lot of cogitating but man was the shopping ever fun. In the end I bought the thing that spoke to me loudest when it was on the move.

This has nothing to do with logic, it's pure emotion.

Colors: I was good with most of their combos except no black or white cars. I like the green too. It was a factor, but not the factor. It had my equipment spec and the price was very aggressive. Actually, it's sort of loaded....for a Lotus. Loti aren't about numbers or features, although they have some fantastic ones.

Holy crap! I was hoping you would go for the Porsche, but you went WAY better. And green/tan just makes me green/tan at the gills with envy. Will it eventually grace the streets of Seattle?

Could do, you never know. Let me say it again. It took some steel to go this route. I kept saying to myself that a vette or a Porsche would be easier but it sang the siren song. You have to drive one, Ron. It's in its own bubble. Love to run it around the roads up thar!

Congrats. That is a great looking car. Don't we all wish we could go that route.

Fantastic Lew! I am extremely jealous.

Way back I had an Elan for a bit - Lotus has always built special cars in my book.

Very fun choice. I had a 1979, right hand drive, back when they had half as many cylinders and no turbos. I never did get it running, sold it to a neighbor to pick up where I left off.

If you post some videos we can all live vicariously through you.....
