SHE just walked in to get a sheet out of the printer. The pic of Lew was on the screen. I felt compelled to explain a ten page super-car thread I'm following on the boat forum. When I got to that last part, her 'it's a wooden boat forum thing' filter kicked in, she rolled her eyes. Almost like she was paying attention to my words. She got her printed sheet and made her exit without comment.

Not impressed by an upside down guy in a Lotus, I guess.

The car is pure sex on wheels. Pics don't do it justice. Epic indeed.

    Like I said, tease. . .

We are way into cheroots and scotch time, there should be at least a dozen pictures by now. Even a video or two is not out of the question. YouTube is stoopid simple.

Busy, fun but hard day. I didn't sleep well last night. Not anxiety or even anticipation but rather that my knee wasn't happy with all the walking and standing around required. I woke up early and in discomfort but excited and eager.

I didn't take a lot of pics during the actual delivery though I have a couple to add when I get home. Paul and Kat have been great. I drove around Detroit today while they took care of business. I got a little more familiar with the new ride but some things remain to learn, mainly the mercurial nav, blue tooth and audio packages. This is vexing as, if you recall, my career was in pro audio. I managed to pocket dial Cris Ross about four times, called Lindy more times than that and heard her saying hello hello hello while she couldn't hear me. I gave up and just drove around with the exhaust valve and the window open. The AC works great, the seats are good and the car is a general hoot to drive and to be seen in.

We all went out for dinner tonight and once again my leg reminded me it wasn't done healing but we had a good time and a nice meal. Detroit has a much better street face than you might think from its reputation and the rolling stock here is incredible. There are hot cars all over the place.

We begin the actual drive tomorrow and there won't be many distractions so that's when we'll get some pictures up.

    Love you guys really!
One of the most enduring qualities of an old wooden boat is the smell it imparts to your clothing.

    I've always thought:
Spend a hundred K or two on a boat and you got a boat which is indistinguishable from the others on the dock. Spend a hundred K or two on a car and you got something that will stand out from the crowd.

But to us back here in your little fishing village, you'll alway be Capt. Lew. But dammit, be careful.

Lew, it sounds like you are well into "Lew's Excellent Adventure" As for the new knee, time IS the great healer, according to my lady,
(she has two new knees and a new hip - modern orthopedic surgery is great) - you gotta check out some of the car gatherings in
the Midwest (Hot August Nights over in MN / and the car cruise on Woodward Ave in Detroit [maybe 12 mile - going from imperfect
memory here] ) you and the Lotus would fit right in. And, for Forum tranquility, can you drop a hint to Paul to stock their freezer
A with an extra quart of Kat's favorite ice cream flavor (grin)

Ok. This is getting to be too much. Paul must've been up for an hour now. Where are the pics? Put down the ice cream and make with the pic posting already!

Looks great Lew. I had one of the early Miatas in British Racing Green. Wasn't a Lotus but was fun to drive with the top down. Enjoy.

No. I didn't just spend two hours kneeing myself in the face while my head rubbed on a Corinthian leather headliner, and a steering wheel tried to saw me in half.
And, does it really count if you just sat there in the lot for two hours, going "Vroom, Vroom"?

    Peace,

My my face hurts from smiling broadly and continuously since we got in the car this morning.
