Default London Mosque Targeted by Van

At least 10 injured so far and one man in custody.

No reports of fatalities thus far. Hopefully it'll stay that way.

my first guess is a reactionary idiot but that doesn't mean much

that doesn't always mean much to me... sometimes the differences just don't show to me unless it's pretty obvious... I never cared anyway

Further info to that from the Indy #3
The man who died was the elderly gent who had collapsed and was being given first aid by the people hit by the van
The van was hired from a company in south Wales

Eyewitnesses say the driver of the van said he wanted to "kill all Muslims"
Confirmed ten inured in addition to the fatality.

    Terrorism, or hate Crime?

By all accounts the Immam did a sterling job in having the van driver merely restrained.....

I think that it is a very thin line between the two.

Can it not be both at the same time?

There was talk recently by Labour of increasing our number of national bank holidays by a few days, as we dont take a normal number.

It might be an idea to allocate one for a Jewish celebration and one for a Muslim celebration etc to make a point.

Good shout. We already have some Christian bank holidays, so it would be only appropriate. Add Diwali and Chinese new year as well, as they are more of a party celebration.

The weather can be good in September, but November? Can't do Bonfire Night as it will offend the Catholics. Fixing Easter makes sense, and Diwali is in October this year, so that is good.

My city home, (mostly winter terms) as a kid was in a strong catholic area. Guy Fawkes night saw everyone on the street. I doubt many of the adults knew anything about it's history, or if they did cared. Certainly my strongly anti-catholic grandma seemed not to.

However, when visiting Lancaster courts and gaol (AKA the castle) we met a woman who was very clear that Guy Fawkes was a catholic martyr. At the time of the plot, N W England was still fervently catholic and memories are long.
