first to 7 for Oracle, the Kiwi's start on -1 so they need to win 8...... seems fair.

Yea, I seem to remember a team that tried, after given an 8 win lead (first to 9 wins) but lost 8 straight races!

Well - there was the 95 cup & various Enzed sailors scattered throughout the challengers.

Since Oracle was built in Auckland NZ.........I think NZ has done rather well to have two boats in the final
I once thought I was wrong, but I was wrong, I wasn't wrong.

Considering that many of them were before the nation of New Zealand was even formed, let alone started to race in the AC, it's hardly comparable.

I think you may miss the point here, at least mine.
This is about being a fan. It's about giving the other a good-natured "ribbing".
Being literal is not all that important, you understand?
    Maybe not.

I wonder what "ribbing" means in Kiwi speak.

Anyone know what the U. S. tv broadcast situation is? Is NBCSports going to carry it live (or delayed)?

On the East coast, I believe it will be broadcast on NBC from 1pm to 2:30 pm. Saturday and Sunday. Whether live or taped, I do not know.

The Kiwi's certainly pulled out the whomper today. They were lucky on the first start but the second was perfectly executed. They had boat speed too, mostly I think to do with the choice of foils.

Oracle's Slingsby continues to have an uncanny ability to spot shifts.

Those were pretty convincing victories. I hope this doesn't turn into something boring.

Look what happened last time with the Us and Kiwis!
I found it disappointing that they only sailed two races. I suppose there will be racing all week (not televised) and it'll finish up next weekend if not concluded by then.

I dunno, most Kiwis could tolerate that kind of boring! Oracle getting back to within 3 seconds at one point was pretty impressive. Was it crew or wind that caused that bad gybe?

Yea. so, according to the plan, Oracle will spot Emirates 5 more races! Got em' just where we want em'! So far.

They sail 2 races tomorrow... 2 races next Saturday- 6/24...2 races next Sunday- 6/25... 2 races next Monday-6/26...and 2 races next Tuesday-6/27.
During the week, they race J-Class and Youth Americas Cup races.

Slingsby is brilliant, he found a shift no one else could see.

Looks like the next few days will call for Ellison to spend few billion dollars to try help Coots and Spitball get the advantage they are used to

Amazed that this thread has gone so quiet. I understand why Americans might not want to talk about it at this point . But I didn't realize Kiwis were so quietly humble.

Maybe because the racing has been one sided so far, but it's early. I'm not devoted to Oracle, but I hope for close, exciting races.
I am of course not speaking for the Kiwis, but after last time, I would be careful not to count my chickens early.

So we are back to what experienced racing sailors have never liked about the Americ's Cup: it is boring to watch. ETNZ is so good and so fast that this is just them staying clear and sailing around the course.

It is time to talk about what happens going forward, I guess.

Speaking for myself, I'm still thoroughly enjoying it. The Kiwis are one mistake from losing. They must have had great faith in their boatspeed not to tight cover.
