    Default Gregg Allman, R.I.P.

Gregg Allman, one of the two brothers from legendary rock band the Allman Brothers Band, has died. He was 69.

He “passed away peacefully at his home in Savannah, Georgia,” according to a statement on Allman’s official website. “Gregg struggled with many health issues over the past several years. During that time, Gregg considered being on the road playing music with his brothers and solo band for his beloved fans, essential medicine for his soul. Playing music lifted him up and kept him going during the toughest of times.”
He looked ill, on the last TV special that featured him.
"Fact is that which enough people believe. Truth is determined by how fervently they believe it."

Very sad news. Brothers and Sisters is one of my all time favourite albums. RIP

I was a fan back in the day.
There is no rational, logical, or physical description of how free will could exist. It therefore makes no sense to praise or condemn anyone on the grounds they are a free willed self that made one choice but could have chosen something else. There is no evidence that such a situation is possible in our Universe. Demonstrate otherwise and I will be thrilled.

They did a great job of what needed doing, bringing jazz and rock and country closer. RIP Gregg.

Man. Too young. One of the best rock and blues voices ever. RIP.

When I was on the air at WBRU-FM, I hosted a private party for them at my ex-girl friend's apartment. This was in Providence RI, their first concert after Duane was killed. I recall with utter clarity Berry Oakley nearly passed out in the back seat of my old SAAB 96, while Duane sat in the passenger seat drunkenly showing me his bridgework and complaining about his ex-wife. Those guys were drinkers.

So much good music. Got to see the Alman bros, Bonnie Raitt and the grateful dead all on one ticket at U Mass. One of the best concerts I barely remember .

I am tempted to start a thread on the worst concerts I am unable to forget, but Scot would pull the plug if I told the story truthfully.

The Allman Brothers gave us a lot of good music.

I was out of the country and just found out about Gregg, what a talent he was... Had as much soul as anyone in music.

Complications from Hep C. A great talent with unfortunate habits.

I wonder why it is that so many talented musicians are such prolific substance abusers?
