Default Can Broken Anti-Ventilation Plate be Repaired?

So, I screwed up (don't ask how ) and broke one side of the anti-ventilation plate on my 40 hp Honda. I still have the piece that's missing in the photos. Can this be fixed, or am I looking at having to replace the whole lower unit housing?

That's a common-type repair for around here. You just need a welder who knows what's what with aluminum.

Yes, it can. Take it to someone who fabricates aluminium for advise on the best approach. My guess: weld, grind, re-paint.
