Default Has anyone bought plans or built the Whitehall Azulykit?

I have fallen in love with this 1890 George Kneiss Whitehall after reading about it's history from Mystic and seeing this copy from Douglas Brooks Boatworks.

The plans are available from the Mystic Seaport collection from lines drawn by Bob Baker. I'm just curious before I start the tedious process of ordering plans from Mystic; are the plans for glue-ply lap construction like the picture?

This is is my first boat build and I don't think I'm skilled enough for traditional clinker, frame construction.

I'm quite sure plans from mystic will be traditional plank on frame, lapstrake or even more likely carvel. The builders of the boat pictured translated the plans to glued lap.

Yes, Azulykit is carvel and Doug worked out the glued lap build. I don't know if he published it.

Thanks Ben. I will contact Doug to see if he is offering anything, his website says he does lofting and other services.

As a complete newbie I suspect the glued lap build is something like this link; http://forum.woodenboat.com/showthre...l-Rowing-Skiff

I wouldn't attempt this without detailed construction plans or a kit.
