Renee has lesson #3 & 4 this weekend. We've only had the vespa for a week and she's getting more and more comfortable balancing, starting , stopping and using the turn signal. We practice in a deserted parking lot next door.

The key is patience and letting her figure it out safely and slowly on her own. She feels better going 20 mph and getting the hang of it before she takes it out on the open road with traffic. Also there is all the mechanics of stopping, putting the kickstand down and locking the Vespa as well as pushing it off its stand holding down the brake and starting it up. All the little buttons and positions. But most of all avoiding the panic revving the throttle and holding the brake and lurching uncontrolled. I try to show her how it's all about the smooth throttling.

A couple of more trips around the lot and I think she will have it down.

You know you would have caught all kinds of hell if you had her ride the scooter in a bikini.

So glad you both are loving it. it is a fun color and shows well.

We do have seasons in SoCal. It's just that sometimes they only last a week or less.

Vespas are at their very best off road. Really!

Some of the most fun I had on a bike was trials type riding on a Vespa. If you hit an obstacle fast enough it would just slide right over it. Tall weeds and brush are just swept aside by that wonderful running board configuration. The smaller wheels are the only drawback, but again if you went through fast enough the body would just bump and glide over the ditches and rocks.

Simpler is better, except when complicated looks really cool.

    That too!
Have you ever rented a Semi-Truck with a Trailer?
They will go into an 18 wheel drift just about like a sports car only larger with more squealing noise and that bending bit.

They go well, note the protective footwear.

There is nothing quite as permanent as a good temporary repair.

60 miles on the Vespa is about enough wind blown PCH sun for one day
Renee & I rode down to San Clemente for a little brunch and beach on the way home we did a little tour of the houses on the hills in Laguna.

Plenty fast enough for night rides. Glad you're loving it! Always liked two wheels myself.

Any man can ride a Harley, but a REAL MAN rides a Vespa with his wife on the back. Renee & I rode up for breakfast

Then we rode down the Canyon to Cooks Corner and they were having their annual blessing of the bikes. There must have been thousands of Harleys. We parked the vespa and had a look around

So yesterday we got a Vespa™ ($$$$) top case with matching leather backrest, and mounting rack. Road and explored all the hidden beaches in Laguna. Renee said the backrest makes all the difference in the world in her comfort in riding on the back. Also it adds much needed beach storage

Some really REALLY cool little hidden gems like this one "Pearl St. Beach"

I will say renee in a bikini on the back of a bright yellow Vespa crusing down the PCH in Laguna Beach does get some stares and a few comments . What I do love is how women just smile and nod in approval.
