Like the coastline- don't like the architecture.

And Joe, as a motorcyclist of some 40 years until I stopped, I do not recommend scooting around in sandals. One good accident and you are going to lose your toes, brother.

    Idyllic snapshots from life.
There is no rational, logical, or physical description of how free will could exist. It therefore makes no sense to praise or condemn anyone on the grounds they are a free willed self that made one choice but could have chosen something else. There is no evidence that such a situation is possible in our Universe. Demonstrate otherwise and I will be thrilled.

Those houses are holdovers from the days when Crystal Cove use to be a hippy beach community. They are the last holdouts to a time that's gone bye and are truly uber cool.

As for the sandals I KNEW someone would mention it . If I lose a toe or a foot so be it, I got to have my locally made rainbows. How do you think I went to the beach, had my Birdwell Britches on under my Carharts

We don't cherish our past like we should. We cherish the dollar. This section of (the) PCH was, at one time, lined on both sides with several similar stands, all pushing date shakes. I haven't really paid attention lately, but I think this is the last of them. Crystal Cove went through some big changes not too long ago. I don't remember the details, but I recall that the end result was bad, but not as bad as it could have been.

    Joe,

Ya gotta stop posting these pics. If word gets out about this place, everybody's gonna move here. It's already too crowded. That's what ya gotta tell em bout! The population density. And the freeways! And the cost of living here...yeah, the cost, tell em bout that!

I could go on, but I've gotta pack. I'm moving to New York tomorrow.

If you're gonna wear sandals, buy a pair of black socks.

Wearing boots (not shoes) and gloves reduces hospital admissions by 54% for motorcycling accidents.

Yes, you will drop it. We all do.

UUuuuug a little bird in the back of my mind told me Joe DO NOT post a photo wearing flip flops people on the WBF will lose their ever loving mind. Just put on your full face helmet, some Fox™ enduro mittens, skid pad jacket, shin high riding boots, maybe some steel knee skid pads so I can cafe race it and make sparks Oh and leather chaps when riding your Bright yellow Vespa in 80 degree SoCal sun at 38 mph down (the) PCH to get a malt at a beach side stand.

FWIW on the subject of scooter accidents. Years and years ago on a big family vacation to Bermuda we all rented scooters. My one uncle bribed the scooter renter to get an "un-governed model. He then proceeded to drink rum punches and ride from one bar to the next. Keep in mind they drive on the left there. On a group ride up the coast I watched him pour on the gas and take off from us with slower scooters. He was looking back and grinning with a drunken smile as he lightly grazed the coral wall on his left. He then panicked wobbled at high speed and slammed his into it, wobbled some more and repeatedly slammed into the razor sharp coral wall until the wall won. By the time we came up to him he was trying to shake it off said he was OK.

He went back to the hotel sobered up a bit tried to remove his bloody clothes and said I think I might need to go to the hospital. I went with him and the ENTIRE emergency room was filled with tourist who had scooter accidents. Many due to alcohol induced stupidity. He got bandaged up and cleaned out, coral can leave a nasty infection. The rest of the trip he was useless.

On a funny note I was riding mine with my sister on the back, we went to . a beach and went swimming. On the way home I was riding with my shirt off. It was November back home and I was young and wanted a tan It was mid 80's and warm & sunny. I'm zipping along with my sister on the back. When this cop on a motorcycle passes us. He pull over at a round about and motions us to pull over. I tell my sister, who can be a bit of a ball buster "Hey this is a foreign country whatever this police officer says you say YES SIR. So with that the Bermudian police officer makes with some island small talk.

He say's "What a beautiful day in Bermuda isn't it ?
    We say " Yes Sir"
He looks at my sister and says "You two must be on your Honeymoon"
She looks at me and smiles and says "Yes Sir"
He then say "and you must love your husband's body? " ( shades of deliverance are racing through my mind )
My sister not missing a beat smiles and says " Yes Sir " as she hugs me.
He then says " Well WE DON'T, and it's an arrestable offense to be on a public road without a shirt on"
I quickly put my shirt on and Forrest Gump button it to the neck. and he leaves without giving us a citation.
My sister referred to me as her husband the rest of the trip. Everyone got a big laugh

I was on my honeymoon in St. Kitts and rented a scooter. Took my wife up a mountain road. We saw a monkey, so we stopped to take a picture. The monkey ran up this steep hillside that came right down to the road's edge. The hill was heavily forested.

Next thing we know, a whole troop of monkeys is screaming at us and pelting us with monkey poop!

"Hop on!," I urged and we took off. Well, sorta. An 80 cc scooter two-up meant that we were subject to about 20 seconds more of poop-pelting.

There is no replacement for displacement!

    ( Or proper clothing)

    Yeah.... so there.

I do it from time to time on the scooter, but never on the motorbikes. Wear sandals, that is. Worth pointing out though, that speeds in Chiang Mai are typically much lower.

We went for a nice ride to dinner in Freeport tonight. We finally had a nice warm day. The perfect weather for an evening ride. There is something about a nighttime ride on a flower filled spring evening. We had dinner at Azure Cafe, it was fantastic.

Night reinforces the sensations of speed and the sense that you are hurtling through space. This phenomenon comes as welcome excitement when you're riding a Vespa.
One of the most enduring qualities of an old wooden boat is the smell it imparts to your clothing.

Nice shoes. Got gloves yet ;-)
I had a couple of 1960's era 150 Sportique's as a young fella, with the ring,ga-ding,ga-ding two-stroke and evil little 10" wheels - as did about five friends. Jeez we covered some miles, and had some epically stupid excellent adventures.

So Steven, are you and Mary gonna jump on your scooters and take The Cat to Yarmouth and visit us for a few days this summer?
Hope for the best, but plan for the worst.
