Default National champion in the family

My son just won the Mexican national championship in double scull, in the senior men's category. Followed up with second place in a single. Genetics played a heavy role, as he takes after his father--tall, blond and athletic. Still, keeping in that kind of shape at the ancient age of 48 is impressive. Probably the only senior men's crew champion in the world with his own jazz band.

! Excellent! I have a friend who is an avid rower and canoeist. It's a great way to stay fit and strong all your life.

Simpler is better, except when complicated looks really cool.

It could only be cooler if he won coxed doubles with his jazz trio.

That's a special kind of pain. Congrats to him - serious accomplishment.

Congrats! It takes a lot of focus for teenagers to stick with any competitive sport and they miss a lot that their peers do and accept it to be competitive. My great Nephew is now on the Jr. Olympic team, skiing, and going to France this summer to practice. To me, so young but, he's a determined 14 yr old. We'll see, his parents have just told him to do what he's comfortable; compete or not, they support him.

As a spectator, that is one of the most beautiful sports to spectate. Congrats.
