I've been visiting various businesses around my town today, we recently had a very serious flood, not all of the town was affected but some areas were badly damaged. I visited my friend the electric power tool repairer and auto electrician today. He got off lightly with only 2 feet of water in his workshop but everything on the lower shelves or the floor was soaked in muddy water.
I've been suggesting "boats". Tiny nesting boats say 6 foot x 4 foot with 12 '' sides stitch and glued together. Own 6 of those and you could put 1000 pound of stock or equipment in each one , inside on the workshop or shop floor. As the water rises the "boat " does too. 6000 pound is a lot of lifting .
The idea is that business owners could have a stack of them somewhere on the premises but when flood threatens ....and there is usually some notice, they could be deployed.
I think I'll volunteer to make a few.
