Welcome to the forum.
The Ben Garvey looks like a nice practical design. I like it anyway. While it has been recommended here often enough, there hasn't been much on building one here over the years. Maybe you can change that. I searched google [site:http://forum.woodenboat.com "ben garvey"] and there wasn't much to look at. ccx2 built one back in 2008-9 but only asked a few questions, never posted a picture, and disappeared in 2012.

I have plans for both BG's but so far have only built models. Doug Hylan was very helpful, responding to emails about modifications to his designs.

I purchased the study plan for the Ben Garvey but it does not seem to tell me much. Shame on me if I am missing something. I scaled the Ben Garvey images and I think it looks like the depth of the Ben Garvey amidships is 1'10" (I was hoping for more depth) and a beam of 5'7" (was hoping for a bit more beam = 6')
Does anyone have enough details to know if my dimensions are correct?
Do those who have been in one of these boats know if my dimensions are somewhat correct?
Ben Garvey beam is 5' 7", draft 4" Big Ben's beam is 6'11" draft 6"
