Looking good! It’s going to be so awesome to see the full centerline all set up and the first few molds in place.

Thanks for all the kind words!

The stem does give it some perspective but we knew roughly what we were getting into, the scale does not surprise us. It is surprsing others though! ha!

We got the stem up and checked to see if it was projecting correctly from the keel timber. We measured from Station 5 on the keel timber to LL6 on the stem on the lofting floor and came up with 16' 11-3/8". Then we jumped up onto the stem and measured what I had created and came out with 16' 11-3/8" If I woke up with my head sewn to the carpet I would not have been more surprised, I could not believe we were spot on. Seems everything came out as it should!

Since everything checked out and fit well we took it all down and are getting ready to launch into the aft timbers this week. Other than the dovetail where the stern post locks into the deadwood the aft timbers should be easier and faster than the stem.

One thing we did decide when we put the stem up is there is no way for us to bolt the whole backbone together and then flip it from side to side to cut the rabbet like Bud and Pardey do. With no real structural roof timbers that could support the weight we have no way to control all that weight/height/distance of those huge timbers. Something or someone would surly get broken. It does not seem worth it to even try.

So the plan is to cut the straight runs of the rabbet on the keel timber, bolt the stem together on the bench and cut most of it's rabbet there stopping short of the forefoot and cut the rabbet on the stern timber on the bench stopping short of the keel timber. We can then bolt everything together with some help from a few friends and I will just have to deal with cutting the last bits of the rabbit with everything upright and assembled which should not be too bad.

The goal is to be framing her by the end of September/ beginning of October at the latest. Seems we are on track for that, just need the bronze order to arrive so we can get the bolts ready for assembly!
