I agree with Capefox - "I wish you would change the title of this thread to "Argie 15 - Norwegian Triumph". It's clear you were entirely successful in building a beautiful example of the Argie 15". And, it's easy to do. Save the thread under a different forum heading with the new name. Then resave it under this forum. Ta da.

Sorry, but I like my title 😀 But thanks. My attemt here is also about the glued panels, so I guess I dont call it a triumph before the Maiden Voyage 😉

Cool build looks great. Have you felled that spruce yet? I am curious to see how that turns out start to finish.

Happy Easter,,, and its snowing :-) But I decided to start boatbuilding season today. No photos. I have decided the boat will not be finished this year, but there will be some progress. I have some other priorities too this summer,,,( like sailing Nordlands-boats)

Working on rudder and daggerboard today. Snowing outside, so time for small Jobs in the heated shop.

Spending a lot of time with my Nordlandsboat and also sawing timber for next boat, but now the weather is suitable for some gluing on the Argie15. It wont be finished this year, because I decided also to spend some time sailing and other projects, but I will keep the build going forward. The benches will not be as in the plans. I will explain later ;-)

The white paint is epoxy primer, but I will paint it offwhite topcoat.

Dry fitting and a template. Next challenge is tapering of the mast. Each member must be tapered equally.

Please excuse my ignorance but is the tapering only done on the outisde edges?

Assuming Fredostli is talking about tapering the final outside diameter it is really easy. The way I did it was to recalculate my stave width for the final smaller diameter and gang together all the staves and mark the line off on the opposite side of the birdsmouth. From there figure out where the taper starts and mark that off as well. Then it's just a matter of sneaking up on the marked line with a plane. There are probably many other ways to do it, but this worked for me nicely.

I am talking about tapering the stave with. I will do something similar like you do gallleywench. Tapering on the outside will reduce wall thikness too much.

I mounted the router on my bandsaw mill to shape the mast. Made a little video too :-) After routing I am sanding it for a smooth surface. I am not 100% satisfed with the result of gluing the mast, because some of the joints where not perfect. I will fill imperfections with epoxy. There is a little flex in the mast, but I hope it is strong enough.

Very creative and time consuming way to avoid using a hand plane! Seriously, great job.

Finally back on the Argie15. Its been a cold winter but now its closer to zero celsius in my workshop. Winter spent milling timber for the next boat that will be a traditional lapstrake. Also made an iceboat and had some real fun

Working on the benches. I make my own version here with some thin planking that will just be oiled and have a natural finish.

Also welded some rudder fittings using some scrap meral. They need a bit more faring, and I will paint them as they are not stainless steel.

Looks good Fred. You don't sit for long - do you? Looking forward to spring here as I know you must be as well.

A bit progress again. The benches get a oil finish and will make comfortable seating. The sail is finished. I made a thread for that project. Not a perfect sail but it will work well I believe. A neigbhour was selling me the perfect trailer for Argie 15. Simple without brakes, but the boat is light, so its not needed. Still snow on the ground, but its melting fast now

Hey Fred. Our snow has been gone for about a month now. The grass is green but still no leaves on the trees. Its going to be a beautiful weekend here.

Looks like you're running out of projects. What's next?

I fit the neck to the body of the ukulele yesterday. I have a long ways to go before I'm inducted into the Luthier's Hall of Fame. But its not too bad for a first-time attempt.

Will you go to Lofoten this summer?

Hope you have a peaceful weekend.

My next project is stacked up spruce ready to be sawn on my mill for a trad. lapstrake build, and also the runabout restoration will keep me from running out of projects 😊

Yes we are going to Lofoten with the Åttring in the end of june. Regatta over the west-fjord. Maybe I should bring my Ukulele...
