Default My 24 'er. Wood Marine,Coupeville. Wonderland

Some of you may remember a thread about a small boat I re fitted in 2013.

I deleted the thread , and many others,as a kickback to being unjustly banned for "rude".
(Scott, You ban me for bs again, I am gone. I will not tolerate that .I was not rude).

    anyway, (happy time),

....the boat has been ready to launch, but under wraps for a few years.
This is the summer she gets wet.
I picked up a home made flat bed 20 ' trailer for a grand. no title, no vin, no registration.
Gonna build a wood cradle , marry it to the boat , and drag it up on yonder trailer.
gonna launch her and go to the 40th PTWBF.
    so there.
This thread is about that .

Three projects going on simultaneously, the trailer, the cradle and the boat.
I tore the wood off the trailer and sprayed the whole thing with "ospho".
Metal work is a weak link for me. Don't weld, don't wanna.

The wood cradle , on the other hand, piece o cake .
Home Depot did not have the large timbers I wanted, so I am going to laminate the whole freaking thing with twobytens and twobyeights.

....anyway, this is very exciting. Looking forward to see pictures of your progress.
Hopefully I will be able to get a day off work to see the boat at PTWBF

Cool, i built a timber cradle/skid for my folkboat. Getting it up on the trailer single handed took some time, but take it slow and be safe!

    Goin UP!

At this point I am lifting the boat with the screws, the cradle is along for the ride, (straps) but it adds safety .

This was the name of one of my former boats ( sportfishing charter boat)

Thanks for sharing with us, Bruce.

I'd love some backround on the boat. Sweet looking vessel.

I like those screw stands. Looks a bit more secure than using hi-lift farm jacks. Also a reason why i dont want a deep keeled anymore....

Hope the fingers heal quick, you gotta boat to launch!

Thanks for sharing Bruce, won't make it to the boat festival this year so enjoying seeing at least one of the boats that will be there. Cheers for sharing and persisting with the forum, I think that there is still loads of value in sharing on here for beginners like myself to read through. Thanks again

I picked her up a few years ago when I was searching for Vertue Sloop. $50. Strip planked red cedar. Built in Whidbey Island in 1978 by a defunct builder I know very little about, (before google).
Lotta modifricating.... changed the rig to gaff ketch, added an 18hp inboard diesel, heaters, dyneled the hull and a hundred other small things.
When I first saw hebr />
    First day in my yard...

    modifications....
The former owner took her to his home for a re fit after sailing her a few years. Then , he died. I obtained the vessel from his widow.I look forward to when she sees the boat anchored out in front of her waterfront home some morning.

You got that diesel sorted then Bruce? Think you said it was suffering blow-by?

Drilling for the prop shaft must have been a pisser!

Was what looks like a big square hole in the bottom an oversized outboard well?

Yes, the whole mess was a rusted shut exhaust elbow, stored for 10 years.

Looking sharp. Will you continuing your tradition of painting ONE side of your sails??

Look forward to seeing her in PT. Maybe I can beg a ride. Think she'll be as effective as DebilBoat at scaring the tourists?

I probably dont need to say it, seeing you seem to be a sensible chap and all that, but worth sticking a couple of straps/ chocks to stop your cradle from sliding forward/backwards. I once made a very short journey with a cradle sitting on top of the trailer rails and didnt bother......i should have!
