Exactly! Just as "Lower taxes" translates into highways with non-stop potholes. Try going anywhere in your Cadillac SUV over those.

    sadly.

tho seems Fetterman won.. and Bobert is out, so there's those bright spots.

eta: Bobert eked out a win.. tho just barely in a heavily gerrymandered in her favor district.. may that be the writing on the wall..

    however Fetterman's win was solid.

Actually de-funding the police is favored by maybe ten or twenty people in the entire country.

What most of us mean is that the police should be de-militarized and more resources put into mental health & drug & family issues

But for sure, "Defund the Police" was a terrible slogan, and gave the Reich a club with which to beat us.

Gotta disagree. It completely alienated many folks who would've supported the ideas under a different name/slogan. It was a major tactical error & set back work on redefining public safety by years.

Major tactical error ?? Hardly. The term was used by only a small number of people, not even Dems or Dem honchos, and totally blown out of proportion by the Reich Wing media.

    But yes, marketing is important.

All media had a field day with it. Marketing? Something the Dems are abysmal at.

and now more people than ever know there's a problem.

    Meaning it worked.

    Protests work by causing difficulty.

No - it did not work. It riled up the opposition, gave them a rallying point, & turned off many who would've supported the concepts under a different name. IMO, it set back police reform years.

    Hugely accurate cartoon!

Liberal Democratic PR is hampered by at least gestures towards truth. Racist Right Republican PR has felt no such inhibitions since "rum, rebellion, and Romanism'; since "I have a list of (XXX) card carrying communists in the state department"; since Reagan fabricated his "Welfare Queen."

Quite a difference from "lies" that were really unfulfilled goals.

Many people are willing to trade the risk of police affecting them for the benefit of the police controlling mental health and drug issues of others.

What's the difference between a Republican and a Ukrainian?

    A Ukrainian defends his capitol.
