Trudeau often goes away from lightheartedness into "tellin' it like it is". This is not a topic that should be funny - but one that needs to be brought out.

Rarely so outright political, Calvin comments on an immediate issue.

Trudeau is deep satire. Funny is not the point.

Not that deep, really. I think your Calvin & Hobbes shows how a little humor opens the door and allows the message to get through more effectively. That is excellent!

Talk about "political"! I thought the "Trudeau" thing above was about the Canadian PM.

This is only sort of political, but IMHO it's brilliant.

keeping in mind, tho, it's liberals & progressives calling for defund police.. dems are fine with cops terrorizing the populace. still, tho, the real point is which is more radical.

So the alternatives are 'defund the police' and 'cops terrorizing the populace'? (Vehement comment deleted.) And we wonder why progressives lose elections all too often.

Again, 'defund the police' is probably the most idiotic self-defeating political slogan of the last century.

those two posts are a microcosm of our greater problem. greater anger is shown a slogan than the reality of conservative defunding of necessary and good institutions. ftr, the police should be defunded.. into oblivion. as noted in the Paul Pelosi assault thread, police are not there when people need them. their purpose is to instill fear (in more than a few ways), and that is so much b.s. - in a supposedly 'free society'. Mumbai still said it best - 'police protect the capital' - all to keep the poor/workers in compliant submission.

Oh please . . . My point was that 'defund the police' is not only a bad idea, it has contributed to the regressives being able to do all the dreadful things they want to. And anyone who who thinks we can really get along without something like police or the equivalent is utterly delusional.
