I don't look at this thread much, but I get the point of bluedog's cartoon. It's obvious many do not.

You mean the "Ford is nothing more then a hooker" one? Sheesh... don't get me started again, I've just calmed down.

Next Wednesday Canada will legalize recreational pot. The government has decreed weed will be sold through provincial liquor stores, and that we will be able to buy it on-line from the liquor store (with an appropriate password) and have it delivered by Canada Post. Bruce McKinnon could not resist the imaginary scene:

Hope for the best, but plan for the worst.

Some people really need to look into the difference between political cartoons and propaganda.

It can seem perilously close to the difference between terrorists and freedom fighters.

Same vein... but that distinction is almost totally dependent upon perspective.

The distinction between political humor and propaganda has to do with illustrating an actual truth. If I call something 'propaganda' - and you show me the essential truth it is highlighting - I will admit my mistake (likely, as you hint, stemming from my biased or limited perspective), recant, and learn.

If you can't show that essential truth... if your 'cartoon' is simply an illustrated lie... or if there's an element of truth, but it's spun hard enough to morph into disingenuous claptrap... then propaganda it is.
