It was a typo all along. "MAPA" not "MAGA". That's the trouble with that sneaky Cyrillic script!

OK, so I have been advised that the original cartoon is too - something - for the WBF. Hence, a description:

    1. Fellow in a Red Trump MAGA hat, riding a bicycle.
    2. He takes a stout stick and stuffs it into the spokes of the front wheel while riding.
    3. Lying on the ground, writhing in pain. "F*cking Democrats!!"

The word you're looking for is "accurate".

What are you doing about it?

    It was beautiful.
I saved it and sent it to my family in Georgia, but they may not "get it".

Hustler Magazine, Inc. v. Falwell, 485U.S. 46 (1988), is a United States Supreme Court case in which the Court held that the First and Fourteenth Amendments prohibit public figures from recovering damages for the tort of intentional infliction of emotional distress (IIED), if the emotional distress was caused by a caricature, parody, or satire of the public figure that a reasonable person would not have interpreted as factual.[1]
In an 80 decision, the Court ruled in favor of Hustler magazine, holding that a parody ad published in the magazine depicting televangelist and political commentator Jerry Falwell as an incestuous drunk, was protected speech since Falwell was a public figure and the parody could not have been reasonably considered believable. Therefore, the Court held that the emotional distress inflicted on Falwell by the ad was not a sufficient reason to deny the First Amendment protection to speech that is critical of public officials and public figures.

Intimidation often works, even when the law is with the parodist. National Lampoon destroyed most of the print run that included this parody of an ad:

They were threatened, not by Kennedy, but by Volkswagen.

Anne Beatts. Here's what Wiki says about it:

After graduating from college, Beatts joined National Lampoon magazine, a national offshoot of the Harvard Lampoon. She brought her dark sense of humor to her work, and co-wrote a parody advertisement for Volkswagen with Philip Socci for which the magazine was later sued by the car company.[2] The advertisement stated, "If Ted Kennedy drove a Volkswagen, he'd be President today," accompanied by a photograph of a VW Beetle floating on a lake (an allusion to Kennedy's Chappaquiddick incident).

Beatts became the first female editor of National Lampoon magazine, where she worked with Michael O'Donoghue. The two became romantically involved, and both soon joined the creative team of Saturday Night Live in the early years of the program.[3]
If memory serves, which it is always perilous to assume, they pulled back as many copies as they could and destroyed those.

Satire is funnier when it is not quite believable.

Their own tactic of 'false news' may destroy them yet. The satirists have seemingly managed their way around litigation by ensuring that if action is taken, the litigator and his legal rep. will attract the same amount of ridicule. Ridicule is not good for a law firm no matter how big, and given the client they will have an eye to the future as well.

Oh, well done Berk!. Took me in alright.

Humour and satire as performance art, real time. And as Peter said pre-emptive p*ss-taking at its very best. 4stars out of 5.
