Default A Conspiracy Theory for January 6th....

About 5 years ago Seth Abramson ran a series of tweets outlining how Trump had been laundering Russian Mafia money through his casinos. At the time I observed that Abramson ought not to sleep in the same place two nights in a row.

Now he has put together a lot of pieces that appear to be a well-planned and coordinated conspiracy that resulted in the DC riots on the 6th.

Not solid yet, not chargeable yet. Plausible? I'd like to believe it, and I consider Abramson a solid investigative reporter.

I noticed this amongst the tweets in reply….

Our United States Military must stop playing Fox News on bases everywhere. It is NOT news. It is a tool for radicalization."

What the heck is going on? Politcising the military, on whose orders? Or on whose neglect?
Of course the AF seems to have gone all RW christian on you anyway.

Hoooooo boy, it even half of that is true. . .

    18 U.S. Code § 2384 - Seditious conspiracy

If two or more persons in any State or Territory, or in any place subject to the jurisdiction of the United States, conspire to overthrow, put down, or to destroy by force the Government of the United States, or to levy war against them, or to oppose by force the authority thereof, or by force to prevent, hinder, or delay the execution of any law of the United States, or by force to seize, take, or possess any property of the United States contrary to the authority thereof, they shall each be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than twenty years, or both.

Law enforcement is working at identifying people and bringing charges.

Many stories of remorse. Likely paired with a willingness to share information for reduced charges.

President Trump has said some sour things about the FBI.

If the FBI finds any, um, collusion do you think they’ll stop if the trail leads to the President?

A slower pace towards a Senate impeachment trial may have positive results.

I've not flown since March, but in every airport the TV at all the gates are most often set to Fox News. It's everywhere.

Looks like Ali Alexandar, one of the guys named in the above, has gone on the lam after posting a YouTube video saying that "he was the original conceiver and organizer of Trump’s January 6 rally, and that he’d been assisted in this 'scheme' (as he calls it) by three of Trump’s top allies in Congress: Arizona representative Paul Gosar (R), Arizona representative Andy Biggs (R), and Alabama representative Mo Brooks (R)." (also mentioned in the above).

And the trumpistas have raised over $200k in donations for him already.

[Isn't flight, even from investigators, admissible evidence of guilt? Hmmm...]

Not looking back far enough. And Alexander is boasting.

After all, was it not two months ago that Trump booted top administrators from the DHS(DOD?) and brought in sycophants?

I'm quite certain that the entire failure to support the Capitol Police was planned months ago. And that Trump refused to send in relief until he realized from watching the video at his party that the "low-class" people were failing to achieve his goal. Did you notice on the video of the party that there were at least 5 large screens in different areas and that they were showing multiple video sources? He was probably tapped into security cameras throughout the Capitol and watching the action inside in real time.

As I said back the day after, if your intention is to overthrow the government you go quietly with guns. That nutter from Colorado will turn out to be one of less important people in the House and Senate who can't get through the metal detector. Watch Gosar, McCarthy, Hawley, Brooks, Biggs and Cruz. If they really wanted to overthrow the government they could have taken Pelosi and Pence out when the counting began.
A society predicated on the assumption that everyone in it should want to get rich is not well situated to become either ethical or imaginative.

Is it just me, or is Twitter the most ridiculous platform out there for publishing a long article on. It makes for an annoying disjointed read, with an excessive "scrolling to content" ratio.
Talk about leaving an evidential breadcrumb trail though.

I'm with you on this, Pete. Twitter is not the place for an oped or a thought piece. It's like trying to stir a can of paint with a screwdriver.

Didn't all this begin with the Tea Party in '10?

Does someone want to lay this out in simple terms.

I agree about Fox news. U once took a truck in for 10 new tires, a several thousand dollar deal, I was the only person in the waiting room and cosistently asked to turn the TV (Fox news) off. The manager kept tuning it back on "so he could "get the news".

    Oh dear!
I have a large, and very blunt screwdriver reserved solely for stirring paint. :-)

You used to be able to get a bit of kit ,a universal remote control, that would turn off or change channels on TVs not dedicated to it. or was it a facility on a cell phone, dont remember ....
Here TVs in public places not so common, but every cafe and nearly all restaurants, even quite chic ones have at least one TV , usually playing the football, and it was a delight to just sit at table and surreptitiously turn off the box or switch to the disney channel just as Ronaldo was taking a penalty.
    Maybe they're still available.......

it's at work too. If it gets changed to anything else, people complain.

TV-B-GONE. I have one, and I'm not afraid to use it... except in US airports, because I'd probably be waterboarded in Gitmo for turning off Faux News.

What are you doing about it?

    ...
Capitol Police probing claims GOP lawmakers gave tours to Trump supporters before riot

Capitol Police said Friday that they are investigating allegations by Democratic members of Congress that Republican lawmakers gave tours of the Capitol to supporters of President Donald Trump a day before a pro-Trump mob rioted there.

Rep. Mikie Sherrill, D-N.J. had said Tuesday that on Jan. 5 she saw “members of Congress who had groups coming through the Capitol ... a reconnaissance for the next day.”

Sherrill vowed to hold accountable “those members of Congress that incited this violent crowd, those members of Congress that attempted to help our president undermine our democracy.”

She has said that tours were highly unusual both because of the timing just before the invasion of the halls of Congress, and because of Covid-19 restrictions that have limited public access to congressional buildings.

On Wednesday, Sherrill and more than 30 other Democrats in Congress in a letter asked Capitol Police and the acting sergeants at arms in both the House and Senate to investigate the “suspicious behavior and access given to visitors to the Capitol Complex” on Jan. 5.

Eva Malecki, spokeswoman for the Capitol Police, told NBC News on Friday, “it is under investigation.”

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif, on Friday warned of possible criminal prosecutions if a member of Congress is found to have abetted the rioters.

“When we’re talking about security, we have to talk about truth and trust,” Pelosi said at a news conference.

“In order to serve here with each other, we must trust that people have respect for their oath of office, respect for this institution,” she said.

“If in fact it is found that members of Congress were accomplices to this insurrection, if they aided and abetted the crime, there may have to be actions taken beyond the Congress in terms of prosecution for that,” the speaker said.

Rep. Eric Swalwell, a California Democrat, on Monday tweeted a claim that Rep. Pete Sessions, a Republican from Texas, had “met with terrorists who attacked Capitol and killed an officer. He told them to ‘keep fighting.’ They listened.”

Swalwell, added that, “Out of a consciousness of guilt Sessions deleted this tweet.” But Swalwell included an image of Sessions’ now-deleted tweet from Jan. 3, which said, “Had a great meeting today with folks from ‘Stop the Steal’ at our nation’s Capitol.”

“I encouraged them to keep fighting and assured them that I look forward to doing MY duty on January 6th,’” Sessions wrote.

Sessions deleted that tweet on Jan. 7, a day after the riot.
