With the boat safely back in the shop, I have started the interior work For no particular reason, I have started with the aft-most bay. This will be a foam-filled flotation chamber. Before it gets closed out, I will locate and install the rudder hardware (pintles) and coat all the interior surfaces with neat resin.

This evening, I bonded the cleat that will tie the aft deck to the transom. It was too stiff to bend, so I had to steam it (vigorously) to form the camber. Even so it retained some spring back. A few clamps hold it in place while the epoxy cures.

Hi All,

I haven't posted any photos recently, so I thought I would share some recent progress.

After much scraping and sanding, I painted the cockpit. I used a light grey from Kirby. It went on very easily. I hope it lasts as well as it handled.

I installed the seats made from some nice Cypress I bought in Annapolis.

I fitted and installed close-outs for the forward flotation chambers. The holes are are access ports so I can inspect/maintain these spaces.

I'm starting to shape the Samson Post. This is one is cut from a clear Mahogany 4x4. The lumber yard was quite proud of this piece. The cost of wood is scary right now.

Sorry about the rotation of these. I can't seem to control it.

Soon, I'll start the deck. The first task will be to fabricate and install the longitudinal stringers that form the interior edge of the cockpit and support the coaming.

Progress has been slow, but steady (at least recently). The plywood decking is down and about ready to receive the glass. I plan to use 6 oz. cloth set in epoxy.

I also just laminated a blank for the tiller. Layers of ash and mahogany laid up on a mold based on a template from Vivier. Lot's of shaping left to do once its fully cured.

Looking very nice! The Beg-meil is one of my favorite boats. I know the Ilur seems to capture most of the attention on this forum but I like the looks of those side decks. Keep up the good work!

I haven't posted any photos in a while, but I have been steadily plugging away. (Not fast, but steady.) I put a layer of glass on the deck along with a few coats of epoxy primer. I have yet to pick a color for the deck. I mounted check blocks for the jib sheets and have slowly been adding hardware here and there. The floor boards are mostly done, though this picture is a bit old. The boards are cypress.

Most of the deck hardware is attached to threaded SS bushings bonded into blind holes. The white circles are 1/8" diameter fiberglass rod stock that I use to align parts while epoxy cures.

I selected some "traditional" looking blocks. The angled pad, in theory, will put the sheet at the correct angle to sit nicely in the yet-to-be installed Cam Cleat that will sit at the top of the cockpit coaming.

The rudder is done except for paint. This shot has the removeable cheek piece off in order to show the pivot feature. It still has some (green and blue) masking tape from priming.
