rbgarr - Geeze there's no such thing as an on-line secret huh??!! Honestly I bid on other stuff, it's just the Lenox crap I seem to win. Besides, the grandkids need something to sell when I'm gone

I do need to change my e-bay screen name, 'cause someday I'm going to get around to selling some things and I don't want the Concordia name associated with that...

Yes Dave, I read and tried the things in the last e-bay discussion here, setting timers, sniping, etc. Just settled on bidding what I can and if someone else wants it worse and for more money, that's ok.

Margo-

Many of us have collecting hobbies: I like gathering up unusual marine bronze hardware, my wife goes after compotes... go figure. My great aunt has an extensive collection of Torquay pottery and my mother collects blue milk glass.

I've also got a small collection of scrimshaw and saw that a whale's inner ear bone sold on eBay for $75 the other day. I happen to have one of those that I got somewhere years ago, and I'm going to put that up on eBay now. It used to be that you could contact the underbidders directly and save the listing fees, etc., but they've limited that access.

Good luck with the Lenox Village collecting!

Margo, thing like that is an investment, not a purchase. I'd say that went for short money. Bbased upon what I've seen I was figuring over $1K.

Not exactly in the same league, but check this out: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...category=27950

Looks like some 'surfer dude' bid highest for it.
Oh the ignominity of it....planing styrofoam or the like with a tool made for shaping wood, sigh.

Is there no justice in the world?

If you call up his feedback and check the first items, you'll see that this is the second 100 he's gotten, as well as a set of spare knives. This one was a bargain too, He paid $799 for the last one.
