Looks like Grin is going to go thru Heikish Narrows and a scenic route.

SB should start getting some help by the current now. Don't know why they slowed way down, maybe strong headwinds?

Could explain why they appear to be swapping sides???

    Edit:

The speed is back up to 4.4...that's better.....

They are back up to 4.4 kts. They must have stopped for a pit stop a while ago.

SB: 5.3 knots now.....maybe they took down their sail earlier?? And they are definitely hugging the north side, which you wouldn't do if the current was flooding and no problems with wind???

The current should be 1 kt in their favor now. Maybe they are favoring the north side to get more wind. The current will max out to 2 kts in their favor.

With all those mountains I bet the winds are erratic.

Be interesting to see if there we can spot a difference at Lowe Inlet.

    Edit:

    0.4 knot drop???

See if it goes back up again.....

UC has no wind, SB is fighting an increasing current, and Grin is enjoying the scenic route.
A duel between SB and Mau could be in the works if they get some wind.

I have to think that the previous thread was cancelled accidentally. It is hard to see why anyone would cancel it on purpose. I wonder if it is possible to un-cancel a thread. On the other hand, there would then be two threads, which might cause more confusion than it was worth.

Beaver splashings: they've been stroking now for 18 hours, and are 120 miles from the finish line. Should arrive tomorrow night(?). First one "classified" as "human powered with sail auxillary," putting them ranked #6. Not bad!

Hoping it was an accident. Can't imagine why McM would delete it on purpose. That thread was an amazing archive log of this entire race, starting with early prep. Hope it is not lost for good.

Interestingly, although I had ~20 posts, now it shows I've only one. But I see many of you guys still have your posting numbers. Makes me feel it was personal! Ha!

Five in. Uncruise looks to be about 50 nm out. Wind looks favorable and flood starting in a little bit. Would make SB 7th but still outstanding

I'm absolutely impressed with the Soggy Beavers! that is impressive! If the weather had been very calm this race would have had a different outcome.

I guess it proves how the first nation peoples got around.
