Does anyone know where I can get those neat little clip thingys which you sometimes see on Beatle Cats. They are siezed onto the mast hoop and have a second part siezed to the sail luff. This allows for quick attachment of the sail to the hoops.

Sailrite has them. They aren't cheap 26.50 per hoop. I ended up using 5/16 twisted shackles for $6 or $7 each.

Cheaper and saltier might be to make up some sort of toggle and loop business with small line seized or spliced to the luff rope and wood toggles.

Current wholesale price from the sailcloth companies is about $17 per set (hoop), so if you can get them for $16 it's a pretty good deal. They also come in small and large sizes. Small is designed to fit hoops up to 6" diameter and large 7"-12". The official term for these gizmos is "hoop sail fasteners".

What is the web site for Beatle Inc?

Kind of funny how Sailrite has such inexpensive hoops and such expensive fasteners. Usually hoops will go for around $ 30 a piece, and Sailrite will give you 5 for $45. Makes ya wonder what they are made of.

Don't forget that you ALWAYS get what you pay for.

Paul, how's the boat (Eun Mara) coming? My task list is down to doing a kitchen, a kitchen table, an oak trunk for the baby's toys and some work in the family room and I'll be able to start mine.

    Paul,
Try Beetlecat.com, if that doesn't work a search for beetle catboat should turn up something with a link to it.
