Does anybody know of a good source for these items in Canada? Around Toronto? It'd be nice to just go pick up the stuff, rather than mail-order it.
I found it on the Defender website, but I was looking for a source more local.
Thanks.

Oops. Dumb typo. I know it's Dynel, with an L.

Dave:
I just did a search on Dynel. There is a place called Smithcraft which lists it. Apparently they have a branch at 970 The Queensway in T.O. I have no idea of who they are. Hope this helps.
How are things going with Drake? Have you started getting her ready for relaunch?

Hello Elliot, thanks for the tip, I'll check it out.
No, I haven't done too much to Drake this winter. Not much needs doing, really, although I could have taken floorboards and such home for more varnish I suppose.
The Dynel is for her cabin roof. That's the big project for May. She has a few soft spots there caused by the old painted canvas cracking and leaking and encouraging rot (I think it's original). So when it warms up I'm going to strip off the roof hardware, rip off the remaining canvas, and use a rented hardwood-floor sander (big, upright sucker) to take it all down to clean wood. Then I'll scarf in any plywood (there may be one deckbeam to replace too) that's soft, and cover with Dynel and epoxy and paint. I'd re-do the canvas to stay traditional, but there's no point, since the decks were replaced by plywood/epoxy by the last owner. Other than that it's just standard commissioning maintenance and in she goes.
Feel like another cruise or two?

Well, Smithcraft doesn't carry it anymore. I guess it's Defender, from the States.
Does anyone know if they deliver to a Canadian rural address?

Too bad the Smithcraft didn't work out, Dave. They should take the Dynel off their inventory list. Seems to be a rare product up here in Canada.
Another cruise (or two) sounds like a great idea. Since you're planning such a big job on the cabin top, I might be able to pitch in a bit of help if we can synchronize weekends.

Dave,
I've purchased from Defender before, without problems. I suggest that if it is possible to have it mailed rather than UPS or Fedexed, you won't feel so ripped off by the "brokerage".

I ordered Xynole from "Defender" and had no problems with service or delivery. The Xynole was a dream to apply and I have a really tough hull on my 18 foot skiff.

Careful there Elliot. Think what you might be letting yourself in for!
Thanks for the feedback. Defender it is.
