A forum search has turned up little. I understand nothing of these systems and would like to know more. I have seen some systems that cost 2.50US$ per minute. Is there a way around the high price of calling home? Short of, just not calling.

We are using Skype to be in touch with family in Norway and Germany. We use a cable modem for internet.. My question is does the Skype work well with the dial-up connection ????????

As far as I can tell an iridium phone cost about 1,500 US$ and in addition costs 99 cents a minute to use? I would assume it can be hooked up to send and receive email?

Gerald, you can send and recieve data on the Iridium at something like good regular phone modem speeds, so like a dialup (60kbps). There are services they offer to have faster data rates, but they cost more money.
