then cut up some teak doors that had been donated as they were way too big, and made them again in the correct size...

and the next day i cut up the other half and made that too.

then onto the remaining partition up fwd, not structural so i can't really call it a bulkhead

I got sick of falling in the bilge, so i proceeded to make some sole boards

another update burst, can't have Jim making all the progress....

so I painted the inside of the stove area and made the last of the water tank supports, then bent in the ply for the stove area and finished the bench top.

then moved my attention to the stb side and finished off that area, and fitted the sink and the "folly"

before I laid the ply i had to repair some plank tops on the port side

then started to lay the ply, short aft pieces first.

next section i decided painting upside down was a mugs game, so temp screwed them down and marked the beams.... then masked and painted.

while i was waiting for that paint to go off, i got busy varnishing inside

just the port salon area at this stage.

then it was time to put more deck on

    then, the last section....

the first layer was a grooved 12mm, so as the crew is "burly" i added a 6mm overlay on top, then scribed and glued down the front hatch

and varnished the rest of the interior... what a mess

    and fitted the new alternator.....

Thats it for now, as always, updates on www.my-girl.co.nz

    Ooowwwwwww,...... So pretty!

when I saw the first pictures of you laying the ply I thought to myself ' ohh,.. you could have marked the underside and prepainted,... then that is exactly what you did up forward.
She is going to be stunning. Thanks for the update.

Sheesh, all THAT??? As I was scrolling through pictures I expected to see just the primer. Oh no, there's also the undercoat. Oh, and a topcoat. Make that two. And by the way, a bit of varnish here and there. Oh, why don't we continue with the remaining ply? Not to mention the alternator. Amazing work, at light speed!

OK, so it seems long enough since I've done an update on here, slow and steady seems to be the pace.... I need to do the outside but I get side tracked.

So i started to prep the cockpit for paint.

filling the old nail holes from the sisters.... and cleaning up all the things i'd been storing in the cockpit, removed the tanks I'd slotted into their positions.

sanded everything and put on some surfacer

and used up the last of my primer on the dodger top

I spent a bit of time trying to start the engine, but the lift pump died so that went on the back burner

and i put a first topcoat on all the bits that were going white

Then, painted all the non white bits with their first topcoat "blue/grey"

    and then the other side

    not very exciting I know

because then i removed the dodger and started to prime the mid section - looks very speedboat like now

    more grey...

while the cockpit was getting a make over, the dodger was getting some love too.

but mean while, surfacer was going down

    and then a top coat

I also sanded up the teak on the dodger and prepped the windows for install

and started coating a few other bits, hatches and beading for the windows

    front hatch

and using Sika 295 and some copper nails with the rose heads cut off I put in the windows and carried on building varnish coats.

    Apologies if you're getting bored....

I also decided to coat the companionway doors which were still bare teak

    building coats....

it really is like watching varnish dry....

when the varnish on the dodger got to 8 coats, i started on the painted ceiling part, surfacer....

then a few top coats and i turned it over to do the top.

I have a pet hate which is wires everywhere so, i decided i needed a cockpit light and a stern light mounted in the roof, so i routed a track for the wires and glued them in

I know it makes the wires un serviceable, but how often do you change light fittings really. I did the same thing on Wairiki and haven't needed to re-address it in 7 years.

once that lot was sanded smooth I glassed and peelplyed the lid

and made a proper cockup of it

so out with the 2 pack high build

at the same time so I could fit the dodger I glassed the aft meter of the deck and also peel plyed it.... and also cocked it up

so sanded up and primed the dodger top

and peeled all the tape off. thats enough for now

so i also built up the deck... sigh

Then once the deck was all sanded and prepped, I test fitted the dodger.

not too bad of a fit.

the glued and screwed it down

A few months ago I roughed out the stem, today I started by drilling the holes for the through bolts and then roughed in the shape of the stem in pen. I used the bandsaw to cut off the larger bits and a combination of electric plane and hand plane i brought it to shape. Then I bolted it in place and did the final shaping with the grinder/flapper disc combo. Once i’d done the final shape and sand on this I tackled the planks coming loose on the stem. I pulled out a combination of screws, drifts and a few nails. Replaced them with bronze screws. 4 planks done. I need a brace and bit to carry on with any success.

so thats it for now. As always full details on www.my-girl.co.nz Hope you're awake still after that lot!
