I'm thinking the marine ones might come with a hull fitting to screw them into?

In my case I'd have been quite happy with a gluable female brass fitting. ''Marine'' not necessary.

Phil, yes the sets I saw were paired with socket fittings similar to those in photos above e.g. with the black nylon bungs. Plug and socket $30 a set in shiny 316 ss.

OK, we've done it to death and my choice is made, thanks for all the input.

Now to more mundane things. I've filled Romana up with all the loose bits that are to be installed, apart from rigging and deck fittings, and the carlins which I haven't ripped down yet. With all the stuff before me, plus the building manual and the drawings, I've revised the shed jobs board. This is a mish-mash of mental reminders to be crossed off as completed. They are in no real order, and at widely varying levels of abstraction; sometimes a line represents a half hour task, sometimes a week's work. Hopefully the list won't morph too wildly, and hopefully it will become filled with crossed out
items as I actually do some shed work.

I knew someone once who added things to her list after she'd already done them, just so she could have the satisfaction of immediately crossing them off....

I'm guilty of that sometimes, as a booster to give me a visual of the weight of work done vs yet to do.

If I made a " list to do " right now , it would take me a week , the board would be the size of billboards found at airports , it would take me a day to read , and then I would be so depressed that I would quit !

    Not ......for ........me !

Three years at the end of this coming September and I'm around 2/3 of the way through a 12 foot dinghy build. Yep, I reckon you're maths is pretty much spot on.

Having re-cast the work plan with curent knowledge, the new estimated date of completion is 30 September 2015 with a calculated error margin of 100%, so it should be completed by December 31st 2015, unless something changes to alter scope, effort, or supply chain of remaining materials. Not that anything ever changes around here

I love doing that, sometimes I can spend a whole week thinking of things I've already done and crossing them off a list I don't need !

Former life ? Kind of Peter ....( construction ) .

I do remember seeing them at a plumbing supply ( no idea where ) and that they were " blank off plugs " .

    Google did the rest.

And i`m still not making that list .

Similar here but our local hardware outlet has limited selections and Bunnies ( and the real distributors) is another 25 km up the road . I settle for plain.

What you have is good Peter.

Make sure that you keep some grease on the threads , to arrest galling , actually you put teflon tape on did you not ?

I've found a few wraps of teflon tape waterproofs effectively and also separates the two metals .

OMG, proof that Suzy is human after all - if you look closely you can see that the filleting in that corner isnt perfectly tidied up .

I reckon I lifted them about five times. Given to me by a bloke who was chucking them out. I reckon he lifted them about six times, once to hand them over to me. I've used them often during the build.
